XX Rear CVD/Suspension Question

Post by mrlexan »

So, after replacing the stock 0 Degree Rear Pivot plate with the Trinity Aluminum Blue Pivot plate, with a different degree (don't know what it is) and it's also a bit wider, the MIP CVDs are now too short and don't stay in the axle drive cups. Suggestions on how or with what to resolve, minus the obvious... reinstall the stock plate? :P I know there is a mix of various CVDs out there with various lengths, not sure if that is the solution. If so, I'd like to know the correct part number.

I'll post some pics up later if I get a chance when I get home later this eve. Thanks in advance.

Jay

Now I can't remember which are are installed. I think they are CR. I'll check when I get home. What is the point?

nor cr arms are longer, than cr arms, if your arms are side specific and have a loop that the shock mounts in those are pre cr...

and if the arms can be switched from side to side and the shocks can can be mounted on the front or back of the arm those are cr arms

As far as I can tell, they are CR Graphite arms. I didn't have time to take a pic last night. I'll try to take some tonight.

A pal of mine went through this, recently.
Definitely sounds like you're using non 'CR' arms with a 'CR' pivot plate and removable, bolt on pivot block.
I shot a photo for you,Jay-On top is a regular XX non 'CR' suspension arm and below is a graphite 'CR' arm.
Hope this helps,mate.

Thanks for the pic. I still didn't have time to take a pic last night at home.

No, actually what I have on the car now is the bottom graphite arm. So I a CR arm, with a Trinity CR Pivot, then there must be a CR CVD. When I got the car, it had CR arms and a non CR Pivot and it was fine in terms of engagement. It's starting to make sense now.

So my options are:
- Switch back to a non CR Pivot (wanted to use the Trinity one, as I am trying to pimp it out with all blue parts) - Don't like this one
- Find some CR CVDs (assuming they are longer)
- Install non-CR rear arms (the one on the top looks shorter in the pic) - really wanted graphite parts. BTW, another question, did RPM ever make rear arms for an XX? Can't say I've ever seen any.

- Stop building losi vehicles and put together some rc10's.
you last option seems like the best route to me.

I am going to have to keep putting it off more and more just cause you are giving me a hard time about it. If I evet get around to it, am I going to hear Angels chanting in the background?

Stick with the CR setup,it works much better and you can't beat that vintage Trinity blue alloy. 8)

I have some spare MIP CVD axles that will fit-you're welcome to have them, all you'd need to find is a pair of bones for them.

I can measure the CVD's in my XX CR Kinwald for you?

exactly, but then you would proly be in heaven if ever you hear those angels, which would make me think that Jason and I were right in the poll :D

Thanks, I'll let you know. It just time for me to do some parts comparison. I've got a XXCR BK (not sure if I have the right parts, but it works). I just need to get some time away from work to finish the 4 LOSI BUGGIES I HAVE ON THE TABLE RIGHT NOW (Scr8p)!
