Hi, i've been a long time reader but this is my first post. I while back I got an RC10 Graphite from my friend's dad. After it sat in my garage for about a month I decided to bring it back to life.

I intended for it to be a runner and I have put it through some abuse. The only concern I have is the chassis and front end. I keep hitting the front end hard when I take it to the track, and i fear I might damage it beyond repair. what can I do to prevent this? I have seen some graphites with a front bumper but have yet to get my hands on one. How well do they work and where could I find one? Also, what can I place on the bottom of my chassis to prevent scratches and dings? when I first got the car it had a very, very thick clear lamative on the bottom of it that looked like it did it's job well. I can't find anything like it anywhere though. any help would be great.

O, I bought a metal chassis just in case I decided to build another one, or to transfer parts from the graphite chassis to protect it from abuse. Problem is it's painted blue. How can I remove the paint? or am I stuck with a painted chassis?

there are a few bumpers out there. Parma , porline, crp. I have a parma on my graphite. the pro line won't work on the graphite becuase the tires hit the the bumper at full turn i dont have crp so i cant say on that one. Stripping the paint may also remove the anodizing on the chassis . I have heard the brake fluid works but havent tried it. you may just want to pick up another chassis. let me post some pics.

third option stay away from the wall. You can also go around the edge of the graphite chassis with some CA that will help the edges from delaminating.

i recieved a bumper with my rc10 graphite when i bought it off of ebay. It works really well, cause i run mine in the streets of san francisco and i hit the curb/ parked car's tires at full speed all the time w/ no dammage to the chasis (side scrapes of course, never head on yet), have snapped the front shock tower once though. Some bumpers do not mount on the orriginally drilled holes, and you gotta drill them yourself, so be careful you get it mounted right. I have one of the bumpers pictured above (the second one).

oh btw the brake fluid method does work, let soak for 24+ hours: may have to lightly scrape/ rub to remove paint, longer the better on the soaking, but chances are it was painted because it looked awefull to begin with. Never have i found a can that was even close to matching the orriginal anodizing- if it is gold, the black is easy to match. Metal for better handles, graphite for speed.
