Ultima Pro XL "Warthog" Project

My son & I are huge X-Box/Halo fans.

This is his Ultima Pro XL based Warthog project that's been patiently waiting for other projects to be completed.

The paint scheme will be based on the PC game version rather than the common X-Box military-ish colors.

It's equipped with Proline Dirt Hawgs, A&L steering, old Trinity monster truck wheels, RPM Ultima to Blackfoot wheel adapters, CRP Blackfoot converstion front axles, and modified JG body mounts. Most of the buggy was given to me years ago by my (then) brother-in-law. The rest of the parts were collected over the years or re-used off of other projects. The buggy was well worn and was beyond a 100 point restoration.

It's truly a family effort, my wife gets credit for all the masking. The body will be painted on the outside vs. the inside to give the paint a proper flat look. It will be the first RC car my son has had his input on. It has parts salvaged from a Baja Bug that that I had built many years ago and later given to him as his first true RC basher.

I hope to post additional under construction photos soon.

That "Master Chief" is one talented dude.

Hahaha,

The bad guy(s) helped with the details...

The bumper is from Ridemakerz...you should be able to find it, and a bunch of other odds & ends on Ridemakerz.com.

I guess it's one of Chip Foose's deals. They are made for the not quite hobby quality type vehicles, but they are a blast to build & customize with your kids. They are like Build-a-Bear Workshops for boys.

We found a couple parts at a Myrtle Beach shop while shopping for parts for his Mustang.

They're cheap too! About $4.

Headlights, tail lights & diamond plate bedliner intalled...

We think Master Chief's new ride won't have any touble keeping up with Covenant forces...even with 2 wheel drive.

Hope to have pics on that soon. That'll be the most difficult part to make so far.

I dig the diamond plate too, it's cheap through Parma/PSE #10605. A big 8 3/4" X 10 3/4" sheet is only about $4.50.

Thanks,

It's my son's idea, I'm just the co-fabricator.

Hopefully it'll be close to the PC game's design when finished.

My son was inspired by the Baja projects I've been doing.

He's currently working on an interior for his Warthog project.

I'm proud of the work he's done so far.

Still have't come up with a gun turret yet...
