That one I just found - I bought an RC10 from a guy and then he tells me about a car that he got from an old friend that used to race in So Cal. I could not say no :D
I have another 1/8 Gas that I bought to race on the street back in 1985, I need to pull it out because I don't know what it is. I believe it is a RC100 but the front end is different (maybe custom) kind of like a torsion front suspension? that car need serious work

RC200 looks like a ron paris head on that k@b engine and what looks to be a very desirable Dick Mccoy muffler. Sweet pick up 1/8th associated is really were its at if you ask me.

Thanks for the info - the exhaust header does have Mc Coy cast into it.
I met Ron Paris back in 1985 when I was racing my 2wd RC500 K&B at the Ranch Pit Shop. He came up to me and said "Hey rocket, what do you got in there" guess he liked the speed on the back straight, because it could not have been my driving..............
Ended up 4th in beginner after somebody turned on their radio in the pits which sent my car full speed down the back straight................in the wrong direction

Resto, you've got the makings of a really nice classic RC200 and I know of 2 places where you can get parts, don't know whether they have the parts you need but you we can figure that out in a bit. The RC500 2wd history is great, must of had some strong backing, these cars were a little pricey back in the day but who cares you were there. How old were you in 85, did you do all the wrenching on your RC500 yourself? Anymore pictures would be great. I really love the onroad cars, I can't believe how much posting we've had over the last months on 1/8th scale. Let's keep the interest level up, this is getting good.

Good questions Al - I was 19 and lucky enough to have met a couple guys who worked at my local Hobby Shack. We became friends and next thing I knew we were in his parents garage all night wrenching and truing tires. The RC500, believe it or not was another guy's car who moved away or lost interest (?) and I somehow took ownership
I never had the chance to build a 500 from the ground up, this car was already built so I just did light tear downs for cleaning and maintenance. I was only able to race it a couple of times because "The Ranch" was about an hour away and it took a lot of preparation and planning to run it. Also, this was at the time I had my first RC10 (my first new RC car - my others, 12e & 12i were used Recycler buys) and the Race Prep run dirt track was only 10 minutes away so off-roading took over (much easier, cleaner and cheaper to run).

So with out my friend I would have never had the chance to run a RC500 back in the day at the "Ranch".

Thanks Brian, you've got some great memories there and I loved reading about them. Did you say if you still have the RC500, maybe you have posted about that before just can't remember.

I will post pics of the RC500 later.

It was a great time and I was a bit overwelmed, I was surrounded by Team drivers who had piles of parts and multiple cars..............it was crazy. I thought my 500 was cool until I saw the 2 speed 4wd's on the track - amazing!

I also remember Butch Kloeber and his dad yelling at each other all day (pretty sure it was them, maybe his dad yelling at him - 1/8 racing was pretty serious, i think it was a big race - can't remember......maybe the McCoy?

Taylorm, what body is that and what brand electronics did you use? I was hoping you'd get into the 1/8 scale postings that have been going on lately, I know you've got some really cool stuff to share. Great car let us know how she runs.
