Anybody notice that the molded in body mount holes on the jrx-2 bodies don't exactly line up? I cut out the front of the body along all the marked holes and trim lines and then the rear mount was off by a bit. I wound up widening the rear hole a little, and drilling the side bulkhead holes so that the actual hole was just behind the marked areas. The wing mount holes were way off. the drilled holes go perfectly straight down to the wing tubes. you can see the marked holes on the body as they took up some of the red paint.

I compared this Original losi body, and Jay's (mrlexan) body cut lines are actually marked a little better than the original, this one was a little hard to follow in places.

Here is the body before the hackfest. Lots of cars and bodies to compare/use as drilling templates. The first attempt at cutting the mount holes actually lined up perfectly with my RPM car which has the +10 degree front bulkhead that tilts the shock tower and therefore the body mount backward.

It still looks great and that's a nice paint job on that car. Really looks good in the pictures. You got a great deal on that one but I did have to sit on my hands when that went off.

so anthony, would you recommend trimming/mounting first before painting? i got a body from jay, an normally i get the bodies mounted first. but, i thought being as though the lines are well defined, and with the overspray film already on it, i thought i'd spray it first. but i hate having to mess with bodies after they're painted.

i don't know. i'll probably just do it like i normally do.

i got a couple days worth of lexan painting lining up. i need to get some more paint.

My vonats lid is a mrlexan repro. This Time I started at the rear. I cut the rear body mount hole exactly as the scribe lines were marked. This put the side bulkhead mount positions accurately into place as marked. You can see that the front mount hole is just in front of the front scribe lines, which were untouched. The wing holes that I drilled are directly above the wing tubes, but behind and slightly outboard of the marked lines.
The Repro lid is quite faithful to the original, only lacking the thin, brittle material near the bottom edges.

That is a good thing!

I haven't overlaid one of my originals to my repro, they are buried in storage.
