Servo saver conundrum....

I'm beating my head against the wall trying to figure this one out. On my RC12e, the old homemade looking servo saver that it came with was so brittle upon removing it, it broke. Trying to find original parts for a 30 year old car is kind of tough so I'm scouring the web trying to figure out a modern servo saver that would bolt in nicely and function properly. Mounting the servo on the chassis as opposed to the radio tray and using a direct mount saver modern RC12 style is kind of an option (I'm using a mini servo) but it's still a bit cramped in front of the radio tray standoff. I'm not worried about historical accuracy since this isn't a strict restoration. I was thinking about trying this one...

...minus the crossbrace and the T shaped piece, but I'm thinking it probably mounts too low. Any ideas?
