My weekly racer (updated 11/4)

Post by markt311 »

I Know there was some talk of this some time back. I am trying to get to the VONATS this year, hopefully work and everything else ($$) works out.

I'm going to build this Team Car just like I built my team car in 93 ( a little less dremil maybe, I was 14!)

This will be a boring post while I'm waiting for parts to get here. These are important steps IMO to make the most consistent and durable car out there.

A tub is never perfect so a little time with the countersink bit and we're looking pretty good.

No aluminum screws in this tank except for a few places. I had to massage the front of the nose piece a little since the nose tubes don't fit perfect, I don't want to build a "sprung" front end that will just tweak in one of my many future crashes.

Once more parts get here I can get to the more exciting stuff.

Nice to see progress being made on her, Mark... We will need to schedule a "test and tune" down at Thunder before the vonats.... Setup will be very similar for both tracks. Count Dave in on that too.

Looks like I will be getting Mike B's other GTB. It will not be going in an RC10 however...

I haven't posted anything lately because I haven't touched this car in a month.

I got my first load of parts in on Friday, nothing big but I almost have a complete, modern tire wearing team car ready to tame modern brushless and LIPO.

I mounted up the front tires, and put the chassis protective sheet on a bare chassis. I used the J Concepts version, it's perfectly clear, not like the Associated stuff.

I got a few more bits and pieces coming, next time anyone sees this car it will already be dirty from a little test run.

I need a set of turnbuckles, that's it.

I got more parts on the car, and got some little details taken care of. One more small order of parts and she'll be turning laps

OK, it's been a little while since I updated this build. It's finally at a finished state I just need to paint the body and mount the electronics.

The only parts I still need to get are some new turnbuckles and tierod ends, I also need another pack of mini locknuts when I have time to drive 45 minutes each way to the LHS.

Thanks to Charlie Don't Surf for a few parts, you saved me from making a Tower order.

I'll have it on track next Friday night for some test N tune. The body is out for paint.

I like the wing mounts too, the funny thing is they came out of the same package but are a little different. The color is slightly off on one and the hole for the wing wire is just a hair bigger, even the knurled pattern is a little different. Gotta love that Trinity quality control.

Thanks for the kind words, I'll put some Jconcepts ball ends and Factory Team turnbuckles on and call her done.
