RC10 Newbie

Hey Hey Folks,

I'm on oOple.com, newish member there (same username) who has recently got into vintage RC's. In particular i liked the RC10's i been seeing. Some of the examples on there look amazing, the original 80's box art looks so cool, proper 80's colour scheme, I want one myself as a part runner/shelfer/project but don't really know where to start, esp looking for the base chassis to build up (one of their users pointed me to this forum). I'm not looking at RC10's as to make money/sell on, I dont race Rc's as there aren't many places around London to do so but want it as a weekend toy, go for cruises down the local park and flex out

So, from what i have seen I want a goldtub and stealth trans but i dont really know what else to look for with RC10's. From what i know, there are a few variations of the gold tub chassis with B & C being ok for the stealth trans. The longer wishbones give much better handling, Andy's seems to be a very common name when it comes to hop up parts, but other than that i know very little about these RC's.

Is there an RC10 bible/basic's thread on here that i can read to find out a bit more on these RC10's? Any advice would be awesome, i am genuinly interested and want myself a retro rc10. Not into modern RC's too much, just a old kid wanting to cling on to his child hood :)

Thanks :D

Aren't we all like that here? Just start in the RC10 forum and read the posts and maybe you'll see a build you like and if you have a question then make sure you read through the whole topic and if it hasn't been covered ask away. Some topics are asked over and over like how to make white parrts white again ad nauseum so please read. There is no one way to build them unless you want to go totally original in that case we can refer you to the original manuals which are on www.rc10.com. Welcome to the board it's like never neverland here. :)

Thank you shodoy, i have already spent a small fortune on my tiny collection and about to fork out some more

p.s. 11110111 is my bday : )

p.s. how do i tell wether a chassis will fit a stealth trans? are there particular fixings to look out for?

There will be 4 small holes between the holes for rear susp mounts. Generally a B or C chassis will have the correct holes
and sometimes an A chassis has been drilled to accept a Stealth gearbox, there is a template that is used to drill the holes in the correct location.

kinda - 24/7 is my bday : )

thanks for that bit of info, been scouting around using the search function with mixed results and a little confusing, so many variations of the rc10's, with B4 results (newer rc10?) coming up lots

was going to bid on a mint 6gear old school tran Rc10, is in MINT condition so dont wanna be drilling the tub for the trans. I have heard/been told that they are a PITA to look after, esp for a newbie. Shame, it was very nice!

hmm on second thoughts i might still go ahead with it.... :?

so (going from this http://www.theshreves.com/rc_stuff/rc10history.htm) am i right in assuming that the earliest stealth trans car is the 1990 Team Car, with black tub? and then the RE10 CE is the first to have the gold tub?

will keep looking & reading, many thanks!

For me by far the easiest and most successful way I have found to search the forum is to use Google's advanced search option as shown below.
Google RC10talk search.jpg
Enter http://www.rc10talk.com in the "Search within a site or domain:" box and away you go.

Welcome to the board

PS why is my view format so stuffed up on this thread :?

Hey,

I think i am starting to figure out the different chassis and releases out there.

For the Stealth CE, I'd be looking at a black tub version right?

and this below

http://cgi.ebay.com/vintage-associated-rc10-worlds-team-edition_W0QQitemZ170329007043QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Vehicles?hash=item27a86663c3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A3|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A100

is a 6037 Worlds Car?

Beware of what you read on eBay, it's ok to ask here about the cars you see there. That is not a 1994 Worlds car
because it doesn't not have the special black chassis which had grooves milled in the bottom of the tub I suspect for
lightening purposes. Also the 1990 Team car (stealth tranny) was the black chassis version the 2 CE (6 gear and stealth) versions were gold tubs.
Darn I wish this post wasn't so messed up, shame on you shodog!
