Just wondering what steering servo would be suitable, Futaba S3003 maybe?

Keith
That's cool Keith, where did you end up getting it from, the price sounds good.
I'd go with the fastest servo you can, you don't need any high torque servo for this buggy, high speed is the go.

I got mine through "hobbygearfactoryoutlet" on ebay, it was the last one they had listed and the cheapest one I could find, thought I'd snap it up before someone else beat me to it.

I've got a spare Hobby Wing ESC and 13T brushless combo here so I thought I'd see how that goes, thanks for the advice on the servo too guys.

Good find, I've found some for about $10 more which isn't bad. My mate has ordered one and I'm trying to get a few others interested to go vintage racing. That ESC and motor sounds ideal. Have fun.

i was supposed to try my scorp out tonight for the first time, but the local track is closed for maintenance.

so i tossed a batt in and just ran it in our shop (15 bay), what a kick in the ass. the car is a blast. can't wait to try it on some dirt.
i was drifting it around the lifts like a 4 wheeler.

Sounds cool, it is surprisingly controllable and great fun. Depending on the dirt you may want to try the soft rear tyres as they definitely hook up better on the hard dirt, the mediums work alright when it's more loamy stuff. Hope you track opens up soon.

Have fun, the mediums are what it comes with, they feel quite soft but the softs work quite a bit better on hard packed.

This video makes the handling and jumping attitude look to be not as far off from a modern buggy as one might expect.

The Scorpion is from before my time (I am an original-Ultima era guy), but I would like to have one.

Mine arrived a few days ago, haven't gotten around to building it yet though. Ordered the Hitech 625 servo as well and it's on the way. I'm thinking of getting a set of Beetle wheels.

It really surprised me how good the handling on track is and how easy it is to tweak the front geometry to suit conditions. It jumps well as long as the takeoff and landing aren't chopped out as the suspension is very soft. I had an Ultima and loved it's handling and this reminds me a little of it in some ways.

my scorp did suprisingly well on the indoor track friday night.
it's fast with the 17.5 in it, winning the drag races down the front straight with ease.
the jconcepts rips front tires were awesome. the stock rears not bad for what they are.

the big shock set is needed for sure on a modern track. that will be my next purchase for the old girl.

Good to hear you had fun. I tried the option shocks as these were my thoughts also and setup per instructions it was just as soft as std. I haven't tried any heavier oil as I've actually gone back to stock as I prefer the handling.
