I agree with Mike, adapt and overcome.

Sure I had the same top shaft issue, but instead of contacting AE and complaining I just grabbed the top shaft off my B4.

Now my worlds rere has the VTS slipper and I couldn't be happier.

You can easily see the difference though between the top shafts, the bottom one is out of the rere.

Here's the trans with the VTS on it

My 2 cents..................................not an attack

I built my first one in 1985 and my second new kit in 1990.
The Early car needed some massaging and a little patience but the Team Car went together with zero issues.
From what I have read the problems are not design issues but QC issues.
And no I don't have a Worlds re-re

One other observation on the top shaft, I had some hesitation inside my trans, the same issue some of you were having. Replacing the top shaft also took care of the "rubbing" feel in the trans and it feels smooth as butter, just like a great stealth should :)

I am surprised also. He must have small children at home to have the patience level it needs to deal with "all this dissapointment" and for that I thank you for sticking with us Tim 8) .

There is a difference between having an issue and taking care of it and just whining. Seems like alot of people just don't understand that 'for the money' you are buying a 30 year old kit that needed a little massaging to get right...just as they did 30 years ago.
RC10resto wrote:From what I have read the problems are not design issues but QC issues.
exactly! Without going back 60 pages I'm just gonna pull up a few recent ones but realize this isn't directed personally at these guys so don't take it this way but if you have an axle that doesn't fit a bearing sand it. If a bearing isn't right replace it. If the top shaft doesn't fit make it fit.
mikea96 wrote:For me I like the hand fitting of parts and the challenge of making everything work smoothly!
This is what its all about for me too. Some people call these modeling kits...not so. These are an rc kit that does more than just sit statically on a shelf (well some do but the parts still move as if they cold do more ) .

I don't mean it as a slam but if you expect a bunch of pieces just to fall together and be useable maybe a RTR is your speed.

Now, back to the part I like. If you have a problem with it I wanna know how you fixed it(great pix and info by the way abailey21). There are those out there that will run into the same issues and would like to have more than just dissappointment to read about in here so they can

In rebuttal to that, though, they do say "The RC10 World's Car kit updates make the buggy easier to build and service without altering the authentic look of the original car."

http://www.teamassociated.com/cars_and_trucks/RC10WC/Worlds_Car/

Still looking forward to hearing solutions about these issues though because they seem like manufacturing anomalies, hard to remedy without a healthy parts bin, and I plan to pick up a kit on Friday.

All those that have issues with the tranny and have made their own solution, would you be so kind as to publish some pictures? I have tried one of the mod's but am having a hard time visualizing it. Please post some pics if you can.

As an FYI, I have already tried using a new B4 top shaft that I had in my supply, but to no avail.

I am kind of disappointed that I can't get this to work for me.

Thanks!

A parts list would be awesome.
I'm building mine this week, would love to put a 4.2 (or4.1) slipper in from the get go, but don't know what I need.

Thanks

The kits comes with the V2. If you want the VTS:

This thread is like déjà vu. Like the six gear thread, it's excitement and anticipation followed by nit-picking and finally people who "do" and solve problems.

Would someone mind explaining the benefit of the VTS over the V2?

No nit picking here. I am excited for this latest offering. :D Just disappointed in myself for not being able to make my modifications work to the tranny. That is why I am asking for others to show me pics of what mods have been done that works.

What exactly is the Issue? Slipper rubbing on motor plate? Use a top shaft spacer... Trans feels tight? Tidy up gear on top shaft or just run it an it will free up after cpl runs.. All the info has already been stated many times.

Awesome post.. I'm still a newbie to the RC10 and this is my first.. I was going to make a spacer but this solves my only issue I really had.. I have never done the conversion nor ever built an RC10 (built Tamiya's, Losi's, a Marui, a Kyosho and Yokomo's).. Thanks Bully!! Maybe Associated needs to add this to the kit? For a first timer like me this would be a big help especially if it is someone not on here.. Just saying..

Anywho...... I did enjoy the build of mine.. The anno was even and it all matched.. Every screw was accounted for and I was one of those who didn't have the shock oil spill out.. No real problems but I do want to do an upgrade already.. Bearings for the steering!! It is a bit tight right now but it works just fine.. I will post it up after I paint the body.. This is the RC10 I would have built myself if it wasn't re-red.. Probably would have cost me more too... Overall I am really satisfied with my purchase.. 8)
