Alright..... I must retract my thinking that it was a 285. The bad pics i had looked like the plugs were in the end. Now, that's not the case. Sorry if I may have mislead you at all.

Now, I think you are in need of the same receiver that I'm looking for for my Rory Cull replica, a KR-290.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Ko-Propo-KR-290a-am-75-Mhz-2-Channel-R-C-Losi-Rc10-Rock-Clodbuster-Scale-/171983142006?hash=item280afe7c76:g:xf0AAOSwLVZVseNh

I don't know if Masami used an AM or FM though. This is a pic of Masami's rc10 from the Detroit warm-up race, the receiver seems to be the same.

The plastic receiver case on the 89 may be something custom formed out of car body lexan, similar to AE gear covers. The seam looks somewhat crude, and the fit is pretty specific to the circuit card. I do not believe this is a modified container of any kind. There may be a way to make one.

1) Cut a block of wood in shape needed,
2) Pre-Heat sheet of lexan in oven,
3) Place heated sheet of lexan over wood block,
4) Pull vacuum.

Two wood blocks would be needed to form the two halves of the box. Then you would glue the halves together.
Here is a quick Youtube video showing the process for an RC Truck Body:

It would be cool if one of the replica RC body companies would be willing to take it on. (OldRC, Team Blue Groove, Mr Lexan, ???)

Do you think the red gear cover grommet could be a sticker? It looks very flat. A sticker would be a bit lighter, and easily replaced.

Nope it is most definitely the AE specific Japanese gear cover. Been trying to source one forever... That's also the one Masami used on the Stealth in Detroit. The plug could be a wheel cover from Hot Laps wheels, not sure though. Would have to compare the picture with one of my wheels.

I'd bet that hole was drilled out, and some other plug inserted in there. That doesn't look like something any regular RC company would have used. It just looks too odd, shape, color, the clasp fingers, everything. Aside from the color, it looks more like an electrical box plug.

Gah, every time I see that pic it looks like gum stuck to a wall.

As I mentioned in a prior post, my guess on the source of Masami's clear receiver casing is custom vacuum formed Polycarbonate/PETG. This would be a tool and skill set available to the AE Team. For the past few weeks I have been experimenting with a home built vacuum forming table. The overall process is more challenging than what's depicted in the Youtube video, but here are some photo's of my first attempt. I am having some stubborn webbing issues along with difficulty getting the plastic to form tightly around the base of the mold. I am in the process of making improvements to the vacuum table setup, which will hopefully yield desired results. I realize there is debate on which receiver was used in the 91 buggy, so for experimental purposes I have been working to copy Masami's 89 design, which is well documented.

I would be happy to exchange lessons learned with anyone interested in attempting vacuum forming.

Would anyone have exact INNER dimensions (ID) of a Ko Propo receiver named KR-290A? It would be very helpful for Mark (aka Limestang)

Here is a picture of one:

HI I'm new to this forum so I'M not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm looking to build a masami stealth replica and i have been told theirs a member on here who replicates the chassis and that i can get alot off parts 3d printed from shapway, but im wondering how hard is it to find things like the drive train and dog bones for example, if i have a rc10 worlds edition re-release will that have the parts i need or are there other parts i will have to try and source, and is it a project worth while undertaking cause im worried if i got halfway threw the build and couldn't finish the project due to certain parts being too hard to find. Thanks in advance your advise will be greatly appreciated.

DemZ,
there are threads in Seabass's store here

you can find the parts here in mk-zero's store area

and parts here in gomachv's store.

You'll have to do some nosing around in their stores to figure out what you wanna do from there. mk-zero has some helpful threads in his to let you know all the parts you'll need for the build. Sourcing the rest of the parts isn't too hard. They are out there you'll just have to find them.
