I dont believe its a scapegoat. IIRC, Great Planes was easier to get into as a small hobby shop than Horizon and others - they required large minimum orders and verification of base inventories. The other 'small' friendly distributor I knew of went our last year (I cannot remember their name, but the store front was Hobby People). It was tough back even when I attempted to own a small shop & track (very late 80s/early 90s), margins were tight - and this was before the current world of partial sponsorships....

Hrp, Horizon, etc are all options but when GP lost traxxas all those small shops that dealt with GP lost their access to traxxas. I’m sure that hurt them all quite a bit. The Hobbico problem didn’t start with Traxxas though, they were already in a world of hurt trying to pay bills and stay afloat well before traxxas sued them. I still think it was a way for traxxas to get out. Look at all those companies that are probably still stuck in a contract with Hobbico shipping stuff and probably going to get screwed on it when the bill is due.

I don't get it. They keep offering stuff on preorder, including not-yet-released AE cars!? They can't even get the mainstream AE back in stock. I can't believe they'd just take the preorder money and then close the shop...

My old school LHS confirmed this. Great Planes will continue with a limited market (static models/planes/craft items), but Horizon will take over their RC car brands, "drones" and what not.

I received a notice from Tower and Omni. I didn't realize Omni Models was under the Hobbico umbrella.
