None of this stuff will be collectable in 20 years, except to a small minority. The re-re influx is like yuppies on Harley's..they flock to something like sheep, play for a while and move on to whatever is next for the group. Some guys from that flock may become serious vintage enthusiast, but most won't, and as long as they enjoy it some it's all good.
Cookie for Reg. Well said.

But thats ok by me
Some guys built a safety net with RC10 parts values, which is being ripped up by re-res, as I'm sure may have happened with Tamiya stuff too.
Man, you are on a roll. Eat your Wheaties this morning?
Eh, I have my good days

I kind of laugh when people mention that re releases devalue collectors kits. Makes you wonder why "collectors" are really collecting them in the first place. Is it because they're worth a lot of money, or because they just want to have an original kit?

For the thrill of the hunt.... for some anyway. What fun is it sitting behind a computer and clicking "Order" on Tower? There's no collector aspect to that at all.
Granted I see the point in making it available to those that have been looking for years, but again there goes that collector "value" (not referencing the $$$$ part of it).
To each this own

I'm a collector in the aspect that I get to own something I couldn't afford when I was younger. Or I simply just like the looks of the car. I usually spend top dollar when I find the stuff I want so there's usually no money to be made for me when I do sell.

The hunt was a big part of it for me in 08'-09', as was restoring a forgotten car or turd and making it into something spectacular; now sadly to me...my builds are NIP parts based which is both good and bad to me.
The history and the memories are what I collect most with vintage RC. I have vintage MIP, AE, Reedy, Team Losi, Novak and Tekin full size banners in my office, as well as a 8' x 8' Jpeg wall in my own hobby shop (walk in closet) with SNIB kits, and NIP parts arranged like I would see back in the day. As soon as I open it and look at it, or any of my builds...I'm transported back to 11 years of age, or 18 for that matter...no worries, no concerns...just excitement and wonderment of youth. That's not to say I'm trying to play Peter Pan and escape adulthood, I'm nearly a grown-up now at 36, and where some drink to relax (and I do occasionally) I travel back in time to my youth.

i am stoked for a worlds release, i already have a worlds as a back up from my team car which has all the machining etc... that you did before the worlds kits came out. Hopefully this will mean 3 degree suspension mounts, worlds towers, and a battery strap will all become available. I really hope this re release has a 2:6 stealth. I am not a collector, just a dude who likes to play with his toy cars

thanks.
How do you figure that? Please don't tell me we've come to base our pricing gage of TBG "standard"?
That is no standard in my book and I am not being biased.
Lex, No body (pun intended) said anything about the canuks, with all due respect of course. It appears to me it will be the most expensive 1/10 buggy body at Tower by about $7.00. I think bodies go for about $20 plus or minus $3.00 over there, and the 0.06" (1.5mm) SCT's average around $35 plus or minus $5 bucks unpainted? It does kinda smell like someone's getting just a little (like 6-7 bucks) greedy with this one to me, but I don't know anything about lexan except it comes free with a lot of the stuff I buy at Best Buy

I gotta agree, using TBG was a very weak analogy. They charge more for 1/11th scale Bolink copies than RJ Speed and Wind Tunnel charge for bodies pulled from the original molds. So if anything, Proline could be using them to defend the pricing of the re-re Mirage.
I'm not saying that the pricing on the new Mirage is completely out of whack though. It depends on how "limited edition" the run will actually be.

Copy that. Tower did bother to put "limited edition" in the description. I think we all agree that it could be justifiable, especially if the quality is there, and Proline is pretty good I think. I'd also would pay Jay $35 for one of his, because we all know those were the og high quality "limited edition"

I remember the days of the $12 buggy bodies so for me, $28 is a pretty steep body. I'd expect to pay that for a large truck/scaler/or even a large touring body with wing etc but not for a small buggy body. Just my .02, I'll still buy one

I'm hopeful for a graphite re-re... I regret selling mine last year!
Do you guys think would be on the cards?

i dont want a re-re of every rc10 variant.
just the o.g. and the worlds, and that makes everything in-between that much sweeter for the collectors.
btw, if you are a collector, just buy it and sit on it for 20 years. i dont see the issue unless you value your collection on what you could sell it for tomorrow, and thats not really collecting imo.

You really think Scr8p and Reg will still be doing this when they are 60?
