Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
Hey all!
I just picked up one of these and I can't wait to build it.
I really like how they have it set up on the images from AE's site.
I know the motor is a Reedy Sonic 540 Mach 2 17.5T motor.
Any ideas on what brand #18, the ESC is?
Thank you!

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
Thank you for the quick response, but forgive me for the newbie question, but is that a brand or that is what they are using in-house and cannot be purchased? If it can be purchased, got a link?
Also, it looks like the ESC would need to be somewhat smaller than the usual. Is there a recommended ESC that I should be using with the Reedy Sonic 540 Mach 2 17.5T motor?
Thank you again.

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
That ESC is just a prototype at this point, they probably did that to laugh at the box art people

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
The esc is a custom for a few reasons.
1. no labeling at all
2. all wires are black,
3. heatsink was machined after anodizing which seems to be very uncommon
4. heatsink is flush with 3 sides of the esc. possibly 4 but cant tell from pictures.
This doesnt look like the upcoming esc from the pictures ive seen. Doesnt look like any other esc ive seen either.

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
Is the Reedy Brushless Mini ESC appropriate for this kit and engine (reedy sonic mach 2) or is it too small and under powered for such a motor?

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
HI!... IMO always go with a ESC that can handle 1.5 times what the max the motor you choose will pull. I personally always go with the largest ESC i can afford. Lol.
102 RC vehicles and counting...

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
I believe the esc is an unreleased Reedy unit. They have a couple of prototype units that are coming soon, which is why they separated from LRP.

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
I got a battery thats 2 cell lipo. Its got a cont. current at 108A and burst at 162A. what rating should I buy an esc at? I'm looking at one rated for 150A with an instantaneous of 800A, think that will cover it?
I've always dealt with traxxas gear and they dumb it down so the electronics have been easy to understand.

Re: Associated's RC10 Classic
150 will be more than enough for anything you would want to put in an rc10. Honestly, 100 will handle just about any 540 motor on 2s.

Hey all!
I just came across this forum post regarding the new ESC by Reedy: http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric-road/746550-ae-lrp-split-us.html
But as far as I can tell it hasn't been released yet...
