Re: Coming Soon
Good video. All I'd say is the two slow turns in the track are exactly the same. It might be good to vary it a little more. Personally I preferred some of the earlier designs better (slot car inspired) as they looked a lot more flowing. This one is a bit like: looooong straight, two identicla slow sections. Might get a bit boring quickly?

Re: Coming Soon
that's an alley along the back of my yard. there's a good 5-6' before you'd actually reach it, so you'd have to miss that corner by a LOT.jwscab wrote:looks good. that far end turn, if someone were to miss that turn, would it be someone's driveway? would be really cool to be a banked turn there.

there's gonna be jumps and stuff added once the grass is removed. right now i'm just trying to get something laid out that feels decent, because once i rent a sod cutter and cut the track out, that's what i got.

they're not exactly the same, but i know what you mean. once jumps and stuff are added it'll have a whole different look and feel. an i think this layout (compred to the first one) will offer more places to put them.kink wrote:Good video. i also don't have my heart set on anything yet. i could try something else in a couple more weeks. but i'll have to get it figure out by the time it gets to hot and the grass doesn't grow.

Re: Coming Soon
Excellent project!
I really like this current layout - the straight looked long at first, but after watching the video it seems pretty good.
With some [vintage-size] jumps and other details, it will be awesome!

Re: Coming Soon
i like that alot. i like the big straight because i have some really fast stuff that can use it. i may copy that a bit.
now i just need to rake it out, it's mowed and low but has years and years of thatch and tall stuff laying down under. gotta rake and mow again.
i might go 12' wide so 1/8's can rock it too.
good stuff scr8p!

Great stuff, a groove will develop with continued use. A few more tweaks here and there and you will have it made.

Re: Coming Soon
I've still got some old boards, shirts, unused stickers, etc from when I first started skating. Early World Industries stuff. Blind "Helen Keller", Jason Lee "cat in the hat", JL "burger king", the Dune stuff with the little kid on it... I skate for 15+ years, but always hung on to that early stuff. Some of the best years of my life.

Re: Coming Soon
so between my kid and myself, we've run 6-8 packs through the car on the track. we both kinda like it. but while i was watching him run one time, i was trying to think up a way to add more jump sections. so i opened the pic out in paint and added a switch back. what do ya think?

Re: Coming Soon
Good idea with the change I think J. As long as that straight is, it may square it up for a slower car with a better driver behind the wheel. Visualizing a race, the other layout sorta looked like the fastest car would be tough to catch no matter what.

Is the lap clockwise or anticlockwise? The resend I ask is if it’s clockwise the neighbors shed will come in play…

ya, i'd bet they'd love that.Y'ernat Al wrote:Wallride!Hcp22 wrote:Is the lap clockwise or anticlockwise? The resend I ask is if it’s clockwise the neighbors shed will come in play…

we've been running it counter clockwise (i posted a short video on the last page). all i ever really raced was oval, so it would feel weird going down a long straightaway and not turning left.
