Gorgeous IWC SW!!!
haaa, the purple and yellow crazy-stiff option springs... still have mine in my box-o-TC-springs
Remember that TC was a class mostly in development back then, it didn't even exist by IFMAR books (hence why this winning SW is called IWC and not WC

)... only post-TC3 (which has basically defined suspension geometry standards still used now) hase the category development really taken off, and plateau'ed for the past 4yrs or so with "full" chassis with a lot of flex and super-high-performance tires, really. I think if you line up an IWC SW (even the sweetest ones like jamin's!) in a modern TC race of reasonable level (not the parking lot race you win because you're the only one not crashing for 5mn), you'd be severely disappointed by its performance
Doesn't make the car featured here any less desirable

the pics are superb too!

Thanks for the comments Paul, I hope to get the shell painted shortly, hopefully it'll do the chassis justice, but I'll be keeping my livery of course. One day I'll have all my XX series cars lined up in one shot, thats the plan!
When I ditched my SW in favour of the XXX-S there was a big gain even back then, I'd hate to think what it would be like now with the current cars. Like you say the cars hadn't really been developed, not like the off-road cars when an old RC10 or XX can still mix it with current cars as the designs were pretty much proven by then.
I guess also the quickest way to get a TC to market back then was to take existing chassis tooling and just tweak the suspension components. The XXX4 plaform lent itself much better to a TC platform than the XX4, wasnt until the JRXS that Losi actually made a dedicated car, which BTW, i loved and had great success with.

the SW was an onroad adaptation of the XX4... for the XXX4, it was the other way around, the offroad car was a hack based on the onroad platform, which is where the market was at the time

No suprises that the XX4 out-performs the XXX4 - I never drove one but I know its not got a great reputation for the rough stuff.

Ok so the Street Weapon project is done!!
Crap phone pic for now as it won't stop snowing outside, I'll post up some much nicer pics when the weather sorts itself out, but for now...
The shell came up really good and does the chassis justice, although it took longer than I had hoped because I had to re-do all the window masks by hand, but since I was only doing this once, I wanted it to be right.

Awsome! Takes me straight back to early TC days racing, in the DMS winter series.
The met blue window surround really makes this shell 'POP'

The picture doesnt do it justice, buts its a custom mix of met blue and teal green to match the Trinity parts

Run it!?!?! Hell no! Hehehee
I've spent alot of time buying up new parts making the build look like its come out of the box, to run it would make all that time/money a waste, but I can appreciate these things are to be driven.
This is destined for the shelf along with my other XX series cars, althought this is the first one that is actually comlpetely finished!

Nope! I need some die-cut stickers made up and I want to get a set of Lunsford quick tune mounts for it too, only then will it be done! i did actually update it a while ago with blue 4-40 nuts and new black shock cartridges (removed the XXX green ones) - not quite as exciting as that green reedy sticker on your yokomo though Dan
Edit: oh, and the rear wing - I have a 'V' style one to paint up...
