Adding bracing will add rigidity. That will diminish the benefits of the modification.

Sounds like you dont need to go through all the gluing, just trim the sides off a bit at a time to get the desired torsional flex.

My chassis only gained a tiny bit more rigidity after adhering the sides to it, plus you would have a bad day with no sides to attach the shell to, or during a T bone type crash. But no matter what, as you move the bracing inward towards the center of the chassis, the mechanical advantage of the suspension over the chassis torque is magnified.

I can also tell you from carpet and dirt oval experiences that there are good places to have torsional flex and bad places ie- how and where in a corner the car reacts as the chassis torques under load and how that same car reacts once the chassis inevitable unloads that same torque.

Still, after tending to a couple of parts purchases here, I am ordering both a Finnisher for the TLR22 (first chassis I did) and for the C4.1 (next chassis I do) because the first one should have more flex up front. Might be good on some tracks, not so good on others-

I sent Reg the pics of the chassis Zack is using. Maybe he will post them.
Just to give some credibility to Zack's assessment of the narrowed chassis; he runs for AE, JC, Novak, Airtronics and he just won a national championship in 4wd stock. He also put his buggy and truck on the podium in stock at the nationals. The kid is the real deal! We raced yesterday and he and I were the only cars to run 12 laps so he can drive a modified car too. He should have run the narrow car though since I TQ'd over him by 11 seconds :)

Reg, would you just make the trip down here to test the thing already! All you have to do is get here. Your lodging, food, transportation and track fees are all covered. Not to mention all the tuning help you could ever want. Then you could report back to all the members how the chassis mods work.

Just stumbled across a thinned down B4 build on Oople from back in 2010. Build pics get interesting on pg. 2.

Warning to those with sensitive eyes: the body is not what many here would deem attractive.
