Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
the looks pretty good to me.
i STILL need to paint mine. it can wait some more yet, though. i'm gonna be taking it back apart to cut the tub sides down and drill some big holes in it.

Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
no, more like this. even though i'd be willing to bet this is a little more recent than the one i'm trying to copy.

Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
wow, i've never seen that template before. was that the official associated recomended hole pattern? anybody have a scan i can print out?
Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
Feeling a little ambitious today - good progress. The blue looks a little darker than I would like now that its on the car. Still looking for the decals for it. I have no idea what kind of wing was used on the original car, so I just used a newer kimbrough one.

What happened to the dogbones?
looking good dude, maybe trim the lower part of the spoiler side dams a bit, but that's just my feel. I have no clue iether as to how the original wing looked.

I think you need the 6186 2.5" x 6" wing (or 6187 is the kit), it's the wider version of the kit standard 2.5" x 4" 6184 (now only available as the 6185 kit).BTracer wrote: I have no idea what kind of wing was used on the original car, so I just used a newer kimbrough one.

Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
while i was digging through my box of decals, i stumbled across a white autographics letter sheet that i need for his name on the driver side of the body.
does anyone have a JG decal similar to the one below the 6 in this pic that they'd part with? please?

Ditto, once scr8p is taken care of.
I was comparing the original with the signature decals that I put on the car. Didn't have the black set, so I just filled in a gold set with a fine line marker. I was thinking about signing in the name myself, but that would probably be considered forgery. I guess I wouldn't want someone making copies of my name if I was in Mr. Halsey's position. Anyway, something doesn't seem right...not sure if it's the sizing/spacing/ or what. Hope all you 'detail hounds' can find out what's wrong.

Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
well, the chassis has been put on the subway diet.
i really wish the chassis wouldn't have had the battery acid leak on it. it looks like hell. hopefully, i'll find another tub in better shape, and i can swap them.

Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
Looks good! What method did you use to do the chassis trimming? Bench grinder? Dremel?

Re: jay halsey replica (updated)
Excellent modding mate, but shouldn't your chassis holes be bigger? Comparing your car in the pic and your vintage pic you are replicating they seem different sizes.
Looks great anyway.
