Nice job! Looks like a blast to drive. 8) You could try this if you want to free up both hands next time.

You could also mount it to a the bill of a ball cap if it's a small camera. You'd look like a supreme dork, but if you're anything like me stuff like that doesn't bother you...

Too cool to be embarrassed! 8)

Cool video
However
You should consider using a few more tags like: RC10, Vintage, Beach, Paddle tyres or Glamis

Well you get the point

funny, I entered most of those tags Morten, but went back to add 'tyres' (already had 'tires'). The only tag that was there was "North Carolina". Thanks for the tip!

Thumbs-- I hear that-- I already look like a dork with this thing & my field bag-- might as well complete the outfit.

Raided my fathers catchall last night-- it must have been waiting for me. All I had to do was drill the radio mounting screws.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

the result
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdCSDSP5MlE&feature=player_profilepage

The dune jump around 5:40 was my best 'catch'

It was ideal weather-- about 62*F with a faint breeze.

The mourning dove sound is actually the channel buoy.

it ate another diff gear today...

I'm done with the 2.25 trans. The plastic diff gears don't seem to be able to last more than 10 batteries, max.

I was hoping that RPM kit was going to allow me to run one of the larger metal diff gears, but it only accepts the 2.25 gear.

Stay tuned for a B4 trans & custom CF chassis...

Well, it sat for 9+ months with that blown gear.

We went down to N.C. again this past weekend & I brought the cars. In a weak moment, I replaced the 2.25 diff gear-- it was well worth it.

Beautiful weather & great tide-timing. We were always at the beach at low-tide. The beach literally doubles in width, then. Hearing/seeing this thing doing 50MPH across the hard pack sand still makes my hair stand on end. I am still smiling about it.

Thanks again to you all for the inspiration!

THis thing is still going strong-

I broke down & picked up a metal diff gear for the vintage Stealth trans -- NOS HG off Ebay. yeah, it was alot of $$, but easier than refitting the chassis for a late model transmission. Happy to report that it is still doing well & trouble free.

Two of my neighbors have recently gotten bit by the RC bug-- one has a Brushless 4x4 Slash & the other a Brushless Rustler. Needless to say, this thing has been seeing alot more on-road use, so it was time to tune it for such. I lowered it, lowered the shock angles, put some slicks on that I had sitting around, and increased the bump stops to keep the chassis off the pavement

Image

I went through two rear shock towers in a short period of time, so I fabbed up a delrin rear block and modded a 10T rear tower. THey are atleast an 1/8" thick & should last a while.

Image

As can be seen, I am switching bodies-- finally gonna run that short bed square body Chevy. Hopefully get some paint on it today. GLad I kept these vintage body mounts.

got the body painted today -- rushed it a little, but I am happy with it. GOtta do something with the rims- the lime green is no good. May just paint them, for now & save some $$ on new wheels & tires
