Very nice! Thought of running a RPM trans swap with the 2.65? I am not sure if it will help or hurt but just an idea? I ask because I am contemplating running brushless/lipo but I hear so many folks on here about stripping gears, is that because we are running vintage setups with updated power is that just going to happen regardless? I already have a CC 5700kv brushless ready to go, just being a sissy to put it in!

And whats your gearing setup?

Nope, it didn't cross my mind for some reason. I spent my efforts into swapping the plastic gears to alloy ones.

You can usually pick up alloy diff and idler stealth gears off of ebay. There is an online store where I picked up an alloy diff gear, but I cant seem to find the link. This link is heplfull http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=11034&p=104913&hilit=alloy+diff+gear#p104913, gives part numbers and to tell you to keep the metal gears well lubed.

Maybe the RPM trans would be better, some say that running both alloy gears weaken the transmission.

Personally, I think the 5700kv/mamba max setup is right on the edge of being too much. Although, it might be just right for loose sandy beaches.

Yea Im a little worried about the trans but I guess thats why they make replacement parts. What is your gearing set at?

The sand runner look reminds me of this sandrail my uncle owned awhile back, its a mean look!

I was running a Kimbrough 48P 81T spur gear and a RR 16T pinion

I just swapped out the spur gear for a Robinson Racing super machined 87t spur to tone it down a little. Honestly I just liked the look of the white spur with the big holes of the 87t gear

I haven't ran it with this setup, but cant imagine there would be too much difference with all the power.

So you think once you get to that kind of power your gearing wont be as much of a significance?

maybe, but not for someone with my limited racing experience. It's way more than what I think is necessary.

I am running GT/T2 CVDs / the posi-lock quick change axles. So, yeah just order the GT CVDs, but make sure they are the 3/16" axles and not 1/4" axles if you want to use the modern wheels

here are the ones you want

Does that mount put your rear arms at forward or slid back position from stock buggy mounts
