Its so familiar to drive that its odd , not driven any Hotshot for 35 years ! I guess its why I like the Mini Mustang so much because it drives so much like my old Hottie !

New body has arrived and also this .

The label is a bit rough but its a TMS Tornado 18x2 so ideal for this chassis , cleaned up really well , no chance of a repro label though but this is going to be a hard runner so that's ok , looks like an Air Supply can.

The red is metallic as well but the camera just would not pick it up in artificial light , I'll try tomorrow in daylight .

Pretty much , just waiting on some decals and deciding what motor to use , I want to throw the TMS Tornado in today to see how it runs , its kind of got me in two minds , I ran Demon motors back in the day and that's what's fitted now but its a replica TMS chassis so a TMS motor might be good too , they are both have tatty decals and I won't get a repro for either .....

Nick Adams died in January , I missed it at the time somehow :( . I did just try the TMS motor and its about the same performance so I may run it with the TMS and keep the Demon for pictures as its decal is better .

Went out for a little run in the road today in between rain :| now my road has a 90° corner 20 yards from my house so I usually just follow the car down to the corner and stand at the corner so I can see both ways , as I was following the car down I did some S sweeps like an F1 car warming its tires and I could see the steering at the rear working , I'll never get it on camera but it was so cool to see in action .
Last weekend a friend and I went to a local spot for a blast , its a crater about 20 feet deep and maybe 130 feet across , local legend is it was from a German bomb , if the bombers got turned back before getting to London they would drop the bombs anywhere to gain speed and altitude and the hills locally are littered with craters , but the area was also mined for flint from right back in the stone age and the craters look the same so who knows but its chalky soil with close rabbit cropped grass and lots of lovely smooth undulating tracks around it , kids play in it BMX and Mountain bikers love it and its great for RC cars as well ! From the lip you can see it all with a great vantage point and from the bottom you can send your car up into the sky over the lip , for the first twenty minutes we had kids playing and had to be careful , they were only 5 or 6 years old and took a shine to the Hotshot , chasing it around and completely ignoring my friends CAT XLS , it was like the Pied piper ! So I took to driving up to the lip and they scrambled up , then I went straight back in and to the far side and then back , they eventually got tired out ! had a really great afternoon , I also took the Mini Mustang but I had to reign myself in as I was getting more and more gung-ho I thought I'd probably destroy it ! Good times !

I fitted an MIP ball diff kit the other day and I've got to say I was a little concerned at first with having to use a special tool to cut out larger bearing seats in the gear box cases but it all went very smoothly , the front needed a little extra drilling to get the gearbox to close well but not really hard . Overall the kit is superb and the diffs very smooth indeed , its a little expensive and I'd have liked to just do the rear diff but they only sell them as a pair , not sure why but they made the dog bones with larger balls and drive pins at the diff end than stock so they can only be fitted one way and your tied to MIP for spares .
I am having a small issue that's specific to my car , the kit includes purpose made dog bones and like the originals they are slightly shorter at the front , that's my problem ! my car needs front dog bones all round and I'm getting some binding at full droop at the rear, with the rocking rear top shock mount the possible droop is way more than stock , the original kit front dog bones never bound up when in the rear though so I thought I'd see if MIP sold the front dog bones separately but no they don't , they sell a set of 4 at £57 +PnP , that's more than i want to pay though so I'll probably have to redesign the rear arms with a droop limiter , its that or go for a solid top mount and I really don't want to :?

New rear top arms with droop limiters giving 15 degrees droop .

Hopefully its now all finally finished !

The droop limiters on the top arms work perfectly ! All running perfectly now and those MIP diffs make it much more controllable in corners , I got it set looser up front and a little tighter at the rear .
With the diffs in I've also fitted a 13.5T sensored brushless system in and it totally rips , nearly pops wheelies  really loving this car ! 8)
