Was messing around on one of those speed calculator websites. In theoretical terms my car is currently geared to hit a max speed of 138.45, with all the real world variables in there ill still be happy to hit 100. I think I can achieve that going off of my test runs. Anything more will be a bonus.

Weekends can't get here fast enough

Very cool project :) I'd love to give a top speed car a go, but the roads around here are just far too lumpy.

If you're looking for ways to support the bodyshell to stop it collapsing at speed, them maybe think about these : http://demonpowerproducts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=8096 I've used them on touring cars, they basically fit over the body posts and spread the load around. I think they are designed for the rear posts, but they'll work on the front too.

Paul.

Well this weekend may not be happening as planned. I bought my radar gun from an ebay seller in the same state that ships same day USPS priority. That was the 5th. The radar shipped from a warehouse in Texas and its coming FedEx smart post. It's looking like it might not get here till tues.

Still no radar gun. Expected delivery Wed.

I did take it out this weekend to test out the new gears. I think its geared to high to pull up to top speed. It does get up to the speed that the second it hits a pebble it lifts into takeoff mode. Ive done plenty of back flips now. I pulled out a narrow Lumina body I had laying around that isn't trimmed yet but someone poked some holes in. It sits on there perfect so I'm gonna mount it up and hope its better aerodynamics help it stay planted. And since its not really FWD body I'm going to leave the rear wheel wells uncut but leave them un painted. And put some stabilizing fins on the back too cause it has gone sideways a couple times too.

All in all I need some time on some good clean, level ground so I can test out some different gearing options. And hopefully the new body will allow it to stay on the ground long enough for me to do some good testing.

I just started uploading a video, Ill post in a couple mins.

Heres the video. Parking lot had tons of filth in it. The car didn't seem like it wanted to pull above 50-60 out of the few runs I made. This was the last two I made. And also the one where it goes airborn. You'll hear that at the end

Once I get the new body on and mounted that was the plan. I'm going to try and find a large piece of lexan to do the whole bottom in one piece.

A friend of mine (andymac0035) was trying to get 100mph out of a Slash 4x4 and finally reached 99 mph. One thing he learned and this might help you is he cut the back area out so the air could pass through. See photo. It might help keep yours on the ground as well.

The civic body is cut up to the top of the rear bumper. On the lumina body I had an idea of making a venturi tunnel on the back with the lexan. With a smooth bottom I really shouldn't need to cut out the rear but will need to depending on the height I make the tunnel.

I never realized how rough these parking lots are around here till I had this car :x
