Do you need a stock one? I have another- and the YR4 mount will work as well as far as I am aware

I have a magnesium one that is just fine. I am just being very picky right now and I want the parts to be black. I think I am going to chance the eBay mount. The mount should be on its way to the house in the next couple days. Man I hope this thing works. If not I will go back to machining my own.

Thanks for the help.

the picture is too small to get any decent information from, and the parts are packaged pretty tight, hard to make out.

there were many flavors of YR4, so you might have a drop-on part, or you might have to drill new holes in the chassis.

The gamble on the motor mount paid off. It is a direct fit with no modification needed. It is a three peice mount and is exactly what I was looking for and actually looks pretty cool. I will post some pics of the mount later.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Old is New Yokomo 870C (Lipo cradles, upper brace done)

Post by Seabass »

I did some more work today on the car. I got the lipo cradles and a new upper brace done.

The lipo cradles gave me some problems on one side but I am still going to use them. I machined the aluminum posts and tapped them 3mm as well.

I had to shave about 1/16 off the top of the motor mount so my new upper brace would fit flush across the top.

Got the new upper brace done that fits in the new bulkhead caps.

I still have to drill some holes in the upper brace and I still need to pull the parts off the chassis to make a couple adjustments. I started on the rear tower but didn't get it finished.

As soon as I get the rear tower finished, I am stipping the car and sending the shocks, both bulkhead caps, motor mount, front bulkhead, and a few other aluminum bits to an anodizer to be turned black. Say good bye to that pretty blue on the motor mount.

I hope to have some more done in the next few days.

I need to start on my slipper clutch next. That is going to be a bit tricky.

Jake

It is going to be made from existing B4 slipper parts. The only problem I can see will be finding some of the pulleys. I was able to find the ones I need for my car and it will require some modification of the pulleys as well to work.

Once I get mine done, I will be sure to post the pics. It may be a while because I am trying to get my last bit of machining done so I can send my parts to the anodizer.

You should be able to use the MR4 BX slipper plate a part number BX-670P A and either the Bx outer plate part number BX-670P B or probably an associated b4 outer plate and spring etc.

I would be interested in a lay shaft, if you make one.

if you have trouble finding the yokomo 15tooth pulleys, traxxas e-4tec pulleys are 5mm ID, 15tooth, 3mm HTD with a pin drive, you can pick up a pair of them really cheaply. I would assume you would direct drive the front pulley with the hub one-ways you have machined.

so the mr4bx slipper plates, the traxxas pulley, and a new layshaft you would be in business. I'm sort of doing the same thing, though I am using a yr4 spur/pulley adapter and B4 slipper parts. I didn't know before that the mr4bx parts are almost exactly what I need. nothing is machined yet, so I still might go with the mr4bx plate now

Yep, thanks for the heads up on the MR4-BX slipper plate. I just got one on eBay and will work out great for my build. It will save me a huge headache.

I will be using the Yoko slipper plate in conjunction with a B4 spur, slipper rings, B4 slipper plate (on the outside), the spring and nut. I will machine my own shaft out of aluminum. If that doesn't hold up I will go with stainless steel.
