It looks like the shocktowers are sticking a bit higher out above the roof: different shocktowees maybe?

Hi guys,
here's a sneek preview of Michael's next strike. He only let me take some blurry pics with the camera of my mobile
but if you look closely you can spot the difference.

Re: I love this Forum! Here is my ride.
I did it!
Now I have the problem to decide, what chassis I have to drive.
I wanted to match the colour of the Shocks. The re-anodizing was a little lighter, but it´s okay.
Cost me 20 Euros.

Michael, what is your address, I have a few chassis to send your way...
awesome job, looks great.
Have you done anything to make the front end wider? When measuring my RB5 to my RC10, the front was noticably narrower than the new cars, but the rear was very close.

Wow! Your RC10's are truely inspirational. You even anodized the wing tubes to match!
Is that a 5-cell battery you have mocked up in there? Very, very nice car!
BTW.... your graphite tub car is my computer's wallpaper.

That is a sharp car. Kudos on the anodizing. They did a fantastic job and it looks great with everything else. The car looks vintage in a way that you could still buy it at the shop, if that makes sense. Kinda a modern vintage.

Re: I love this Forum! Here is my ride.
Hi guys!
This weekend was a blast because we raced our "cows" at a regional indoor meeting. Especially on saturdays practice both cars went very well and we managed to stay on front of a lot of B4's and XXX's.
Michael drove his siebenelch car with his new front and rear shock towers. I used his old (and partly brocken) front shocktower to use B44 dampers up front.
Come Sunday Michael managed to pull a very good first qualifying run which made him a strong candidate for the A-Final. I struggled a bit and crawled around 12th to 14th position out of 23 drivers. With a good last qualifyer Michael put his 18 years old car in 8th position and therefore the last A-Final position! I did ok with a 14th qualifying position overall.
In the A-Final Michael battled a bit with some of the X-Factory X-6 and AE B4's but at the end he did not manage to improve. Mainly because of some motorproblems because in Germany we run seven minutes in electric offroad. In combination with the five cell packs and the brushed motors he used he had temperature problems causing him to slow down in the last minutes of the finals.
In the B-Finals I had a lot of differential and/or slipper problems. Mainly slipper problems I guess because the diff seems ok and does not slip but the slipper was a pain in the backwards ... I think the main problem is a worn out slipper pad due to its age (and maybe because of the 6.5T brushless motor in combination with the LiPo pack I used on saturday) it has a larger inner diameter causing the slipper pad to stand out of the two slipper plates. That leads to less than 100% contact area for the pad and in a constant slipping clutch. Therefor eI had to pull the car out in every final to avoid further damage to the slipper.
At the end of the weekend we learned a lot about the old cars (and know their weak points now) to make for an even better next race. In four weeks we have the first outdoor meeting of the year (on a bumpy grass track). Lots of work to do beforehand ...

Re: I love this Forum! Here is my ride.
That's an awesome result! Kudoz to both of you guys! Now, why don't you upgrade your transmission with a B4 topshaft and slipper? I really think this is the way to go and grab a few more places in the a-final. I can't figure how you could go fast during 7 minutes with a 5-cell configuration... go 6-cells or LiPo...

Re: I love this Forum! Here is my ride.
Thanks dude!
I think I will upgrade the transmission shortly because the original one-pad slipper seems tos struggle with the power of the modern brushless motors. The funny thing is in saturdays practice everythink held up well. I was able to go pack after pack with no problem and from the third qualifyer or so the trouble began.
Kudos for Michael and his A-Final position because due to his five cell setup (he only has five cell pack due to the fact that he often drives snorring cars!) he killed I think three armatures, two cans and two endbells. Especially on high traction carpet avarage current is so high that even with "mild" 13T and 12T motors temperatures rose beyond everything that is good for an electric motor. I think we have to get him some six cell pack for the outdoor season and a nice brushless setup.
BTW: with a Team Orion 3200 LiPo and an LRP X11 6.5T motor I was able to pull wheelies at will on the straights. It wasn't the fastest way to go but chasing B4's and XXX's on only two wheels down the straight was awesome!
No pics of that unfortunately ...

Re: I love this Forum! Here is my ride.
Hello there!
I have to say, thank you for your comments!
Like Tadracket said: modern vintage. That´s, what I want!
I never would break the oldschool-style. So I will not use a B4-tranny. Maximum the B4-slipper clutch. I try to make the best of the oldschool RC10-technology. The new shockstays are a little break in style, but I tried to make them in the oldschool-design.
The race was fantastic for Sebastian and me! Both Team Mooh-cars at the front and one car in the A-Main.
The new shockstays worked great! They fit perfectly to the B4-shocks and the improved shock-positions are great to set-up the car.
If somebody wants to have this shock-stays, please PM me and I can calculate the price for it.
I will create a list, who wants this parts. I think, if we get minimum 20 people, who wants it, we can start production.
I never killed so many motors in one weekend. Melted Endbells, glowed brushes and demaged rotors all the time! So the combination of 7 minutes heat and 5 cells is not good for any motor.
My car was running very well. But I had always understeering. So I put 60 gramms weight at the front of the chassis to reduce understeering.
To be honest, the RC10 was much harder to drive on carpet, than the B4´s, XXX´s and X-6 cars. I think, outdoor is better for the RC10. We will see.
Here are some pic from me.
Thank you!
Michael

Re: I love this Forum! Here is my ride.
JK - the front spur is original narrow. It works on slippery tracks very well, because you get more grip when the spur is narrow. On high grip tracks it´s better to have a wider spur. The only way is to use the "wide-body"-front rims. But you need tires, they will fit.
BTW. I was a good idea to use front and rear sway bars. The car was much better to control.
