Damn it, you got me thinking now... if the cells were mounted "longitudinally" you could also fit an XLS shell (the best!) Wouldn't it also lessen the roll (yaw?) for better handling? You'd just need two battery end thingies like the old RC10 brackets (?) and some make-shift servo mounts and long arm.

Someone should convert their Cat this way! I don't think I have the energy and cash to convert mine... better just to get it on the track and race (next month!)

Leave your car the way it is, and just work on the weight distribution. Moving the battery longitudially will have very little gains with a battery that light. It simply is not worth the effort. Besides, it could be counter productive as in order to generate traction, you need to transfer weight side to side. Lessening the chassis roll might simply cause you to lighten your springs or change camberlinks to compenste . I am not saying it won't work, but you would be better off just working with the car the way it is (unless you are really bored ).

I just saw you earlier post about the weight distribution question. I willl weigh my ZX-5 FS and get you a distribution on it. It is by far the best 4wd I have ever had, and is very consistent throughout the day. -Jeff

Luckily I got a set of RW Racing adaptors too.

Does anyone have experience of using these on vintage Schueys?

Yep have those on both of my cats but not running them for the moment due to i have no foms on any yokomo rims.

If so i do like the look of the JC Racing YZ10 wheels you have so might have to have a set of black or white.

I could be wrong, but I believe those are for the Pro-Ten onroad wheels and not yokomo. But if they were for yokomo wheels that would be awesome. -Jeff

I think that's what causes bump steer. The steering link on the ballraced steering sits lower than the stock steering... so that is also a factor.

I've just realised I left out a piece all along - the spacers for the steering joints. I think this is why the toe in went wrong at full droop. According to the manual, these should be on both the Procat and Bosscat hubs.

It's amazing what a dremel and some brasso (metal polish) can do for some old Schumacher balljoints...





However I didn't get a photo of what happened to my study when the wadding snagged on the dremel and flew off in pieces everywhere

As alluded to by Jay Dub, those are rear adapters for 4-bolt pan car wheels. Standard issue on the Schumacher Daytona nitro pan car. Specific part number / details: "U1340J 1/10th Circuit Wheel adaptors (pr)".
