The thing is, the dust cover has a lip that a screw head standing proud will hit: So the user would have to cut a chunk out of his cover, which destroys the 'Dust Cover' part of it :? so one would need to cover THAT with a piece of tape or such- Hack in anyone's book. But some people may not mind.

I just hate it when people put out tongue-in-cheek parts that will 'work' and ask good money for them. I have an idea that may work with the factory cover and be clean, solid & proper, and will look at it soon. I felt that people should be aware of that chap's design shortcomings before spending, kind of a 'Pre-Review' from someone who has looked long & hard at that exact issue. Not out to be a jerk, but I call it like I see it. Chris REC

I just got my red tub and wing. So, I just have to paint the body and assemble the rollcage and mine will be finished. I really like the black wheels that Kyosho sells too. Those look nice.

Would a spacer fitting over the motor plate to move the dust cover further out fix this problem? If that spacer follows the outer contours of the motor plate it should still seal everything off, right?

I have ordered lot's of Scorpion parts from Dwayne for my racers/runners the past 2 years. He might not have the same finish as you have on your parts Chris but they sure work and have a tight fit. I imagine that this adjustable motor plate is not attended to be mounted on a shelf queen but on a racer/runner. And I don't see any problem heating up the gear cover with a soldering iron to make room for button head screw. Anyway you have to do something to seal that gear cover because it fit poorly against the motor plate.

I have to say, this reply is more than just a little harsh.
I don't know the seller (or yourself) but the fact that he has even mentioned there is a slight fitment issue suggests to me he is an honest seller.
mind you, I'm just going to either use my original self slotted plate, or hack one of the new ones up anyway.

Here's a quick pic of my Scorpion with red tub and wing. I know, crazy mods, right? Now to pick a color for the body and drop some paint.

Red looks pretty good! It will free up your color choices quite a bit 8)

I've been using the stock Scorp body, which is why I left the radio tray long in front. Body fits better than it did on the tub
