Re: Scr8p's shop
People don't ask us to build them like that.
I have been working on a 72 olds though. Lots of rust repair. It's getting new GM quarters, full outer wheel wells, lower half of the inners (they don't make them for a convertible, only a coupe, and the top half is different), full trunk floor and braces, and a rear body brace. I was going to put new trunk drop off in it too, but the reproduction pieces are horrible. So i used them to patch the originals.
Still a huge chunk of work to do.....

Re: Scr8p's shop
While the Chevelle has been on the other side of the garage chilling (waiting for parts), my Dad decided to bring Ole' Henry back over to try and get the engine and trans installed. Originally, he was going to use a 56 Dodge 315 baby hemi. But, he got a good deal on a 409 that at the end of the day will be a much easier and cheaper substitute. Parts for those old hemi's aren't cheap.
So he got the motor and trans mounts fabbed up and got them in. He also bent up some 1/2" conduit to create the rolled edge on the rear wheel lip and got them welded in. There's still a ton left to do on it, but he's hoping to be driving it by the end of the summer. But since it's already March, probably not gonna happen.

Man I've said it before here, but I love Henry J's, and I'm glad to see progress on this one. Cool he found a 409 for a decent deal too!

Re: Scr8p's shop
My dad was going to try and build is own headers since no one makes fenderwell header for a 409 in a henry j. I ordered a set of 409 header flanges a couple weeks ago and he was going to order and assorted bends kit and the collectors. But I talked him into trying a pair of big block chevy trifive fenderwell header since they're fairly cheap, and as long as the down tubes fit alright with the body, he would just have to alter the primary tubes at the flange. So he got a pair and has been working on them. The driver side is basically done, but the front body mount has to be altered so the header can drop down and bolt on. Hasn't started on the right one yet.

Re: Scr8p's shop
Scr8p thought he'd sneak a little horsepower into his dad's Henry with a little blower.

I take all my paint work to scr8p because he's the best at color matching!

Re: Scr8p's shop
Well, the Chevelle is finally done and gone. Unfortunately, they came to pick up the car before I had a chance to get pics after I cleaned it up. But I was able to snag one just just before he backed down the driveway.
These were from a couple weeks ago.

Amazing. Finishing one up must be fullfilling and a load off all at the same time. Looks spectacular.
