agreed...I am dying to put a little thump in my daily driver (since I retired my Nissan). Just such a PITA to work with factory head units with no RCA out.

thats an easy out .. just pick up a rca line converter and conect it to the rear speaker and run the rca to the sub amp .. done

Unless you're just dying to do it yourself Joey, installation is cheap. I think I had the subs and amp installed for less than $100 at a local stereo shop while I waited. If you buy it there they give you a pretty good deal.

I hear ya Thumbs & Integra (line out converters as easy in a truck, rear speakers are in doors).

Lots and lots of metal work on a 62 chevy. I'll try to take some pics. But, its got all new floors and braces in the passenger compartment. New inner rockers, new right outer rocker, new trunk floor, new tail pan, new rear body mount boxes, new left quarter panel, and small rust repair patches here and there. Some of it is done, still working on some of it.

The right quarter panel was replaced many many years ago ( probably back when it was new) and wasnt installed all that great. So we had to cut it off to put it back on properly. Working on that right now actually.

we're rolling pretty good on the 66 chevelle too.

Been awhile since I updated anything in here...

Still doing metal work on the 62, but the chevelle is moving along. All of the bolt on sheetmetal is done, primed and ready for paint. I got the body shell primed the other day. Now we've bolted it back together one more time to check everything before lifting the body off the frame.

Torn back down, off the frame and on the rotisserie.

Very cool '66. Is it going back to factory stock?

I've got a '53 GMC 5-window/short box gasser project I need to get going on.

yup, all stock. 396/325hp, 4sp, 12 bolt posi (not exactly sure what gears are in it). it'll be the original white with black interior, rally wheels and probably red line radials. we will be putting power steering and power disc brakes on it though. they're both manual now (and drum brakes up front).

the 5 window truck cabs are nice. my dad restored a 52 many years ago.

Little update...

After pulling the body from the frame, we has to fix some rust issues at a couple body mounts and the inner rockers by the cowl. After that, got it sandblasted, cowl and dash primed, and the bottom and firewall painted.
Once that was done, we put the body on the rolling chassis from the parts car we got and put the frame on the jig to get that blasted and painted. Unfortunately, the frame, along with most of the suspension parts are very rusty. Heavy pitting has to be fixed so polyester primer is sprayed on the bad areas. It'll then be sanded out and painted.

Beautiful '66. My brother had two '67s many years ago. He went to one of the Carolinas for both of them, no rust. A Marina Blue 283 and a Granada Gold SS396. I had a major lust for that SS. He sold them before the prices went crazy and worst than that he wouldn't sell one to me. He felt selling to family always causes problems. The SS was set up to race. He did let me drive it to school once. Slicks, minimal exhaust, no insulation/carpet on the floor (HOT!) Pretty much idled the whole way....with a few good braaaaaps along the way. I wonder where they are today.

Little update.

I haven't been taking as many pics along the way as I used to. But we've been moving along pretty good on the 62 bubbletop as well as the chevelle. The chevelle is finally seeing some paint. I still have the front end sheet metal to do. Hopefully it'll all be done in the next week or two. The chassis for it is all finished too, so we should be getting the body back on it in the next couple of days ( sitting on the chassis from a parts car right now).

I've been kinda lazy with updating what's going on in the shop. The 66 chevelle is getting close to completion. The 62 bubble top is basically ready for paint, but I'm going to push that off until spring since it sucks trying to paint in the garage in winter. Doing some repair work on a 70 Superbird rear body panel right now. And, our next body off resto was dropped off on Wednesday, a 72 442 convertible.

Also, another one of the 68 442's we built is going across the block at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in a couple weeks. Hopefully it brings good money, but it's scheduled for Wednesday night (and probably not while on air either) I'm not so sure it will get it.

That is a very nice car, what do you think it will fetch at auction?

Not a clue, i really don't pay attention to the going rate for old cars. They're all out of my price range.

But i would hope it at least hit's $70,000. We will see.....
