So it seems there’s been a 2nd batch, and i read somewhere that they dont have the numbered chassis. Is anyone able to confirm?

Where did you hear such a thing?
Usually between here, and the FB side gig, AE info moves pretty quick.

You never know with AE, but I am an AE dealer and my sales person said that all of the re-re's (40th, 10T, YZ-10, 10DS) are all a one and done shipment. I would be surprised if there is a second shipment.

Here in Aus retailers are in receipt of a 2nd shipment of kits. It could well be that they were from the first batch (seems unlikely?) or there has been an additional production run. I cant recall were I read about the number thing, but i dont have FB so wasn’t there. Ill see if I can find it (May have been from TamiyaClub)
**Edit - So it was in the UK, where retailers were advising that kits would be due later this year, and many said about the lack of numbering.
No idea if it’s true, hence my question, as without the 40th stuff, I wouldn’t bother as I still have a first release classic NIB

There definitely was a second shipment of 40th 10's and 10T's in Aus.

Picked this up this morning from a HT about an hour from my house. Via their site, there is only one store left in the US that has any in stock.

Hello all. Brand new to the forum here and working out how things work still.
I just started building the RC10 40th here in Australia. It’s my first RC build. I’ve only just started the build but don’t want to progress further until I sort out a couple of issues. I’ve just assembled the left swing arm, caster block and steering block. The instructions show a steel nut going under the steering block but I can’t see where or how it would fit. I assembled the steering block into caster block without the nut. Now that it’s assembled the steering block fowls against the swingarm. Have I done something wrong here?

Welcome! That nut goes on the end of the ballstud.

Perspective can sometimes get a little off in RC manuals. It happens!
And thanks for the reminder to add caster blocks to my next FanRC order. I picked up a second 40th to build, and it isn't going to get those green things.

Figured this would be a good thread to post this.
I had a friend who built the 40th and ran it on our track a few times. He put a clear chassis protector on it to try and save the chassis. He then later went to remove it from the chassis after it was a bit worn and a huge chunk of anodizing came off with it!!!
When I built mine I used some alcohol to clean the chassis before putting down servo tape to stick the receiver and my white towel had turned gold.
So just an FYI to everyone the anodizing quality is not great on the 40th.
Haven't had any of those issues with the 10T Re-Re or the DS just the 40th for some reason.

When I do a search for RC10 spare parts on the AE website, this is now coming up too. Hmmm.... what could this mean?

That sounds like something went very wrong in the process.
