Hey Tim,

Couple questions about your car.

1. Is that a gyro on top of your servo? Was that used during the demo race last weekend?

2. How does that front body post work? It does not look like the std post.

3. Who did the paint on your shell?

4. I like the mini decal of mike reedy is that available to the public?

The thing on top of the servo is a transponder.

1. Transponder for racing.

2. I don't like the look of the front body post poking up through the body and the new re-re RC10 rebranded yokomo sticker. So I opted to not have the post, but by removing the screw you end up with a hole in the nose plate, and I tried to avoid making a make-shift playdo factory by just putting a 8-32 screw back in and using a WC steering rack nut for the screw to tighten on and figured it looked a little nicer than just a plain nut.

3. The paint scheme is my current race paint scheme. I used to airbrush a lot when I worked at a hobby shop and have always painted my own bodies (and still do), I just don't paint for others anymore due to lack of time.

4. The Mike Reedy memorial sticker was on the handout decal sheet for the Reedy Race. However, I am sure they are also available elsewhere? The decals are made by UpGrade.

Great info Tim! Don't be surprised if I end up asking a bunch of question on how to improve my airbrushing skills. I would love to learn how to do those leaves and flowers!!!

haha...well, they are actually supposed to be feathers followed by scales.

Maybe I need to work on my airbrushing some more!! lol

Tim, would love to come by OCRC and look over your set up and discuss why you have done certain things...and have you look over my re-re racer

I see you are running 17.5, blinky I presume? If so, what are you gearing (looks like a Mach 2 Reedy) and motor timing at?

I think I have it geared at 30/81 with about 35deg of timing on the motor, but I will have to double check and confirm. As it is right now it feels pretty good! I swear it is faster than my B4 or C4 ever was in stock (although I think it's a little under weight at the moment, which might explain it).

I would be happy to look over your car and talk to you about setup.

Edit: I had a brain fart until I saw the picture of the motor. That is actually one of the first production Mach 1 17.5 motor, before the timing marks had numbers. I think the timing was actually more like 40-45 on that motor.

Joey I'd totally love an excuse to get up there again too. Would love to see both your cars in person myself. And I have that new wingless one to try to drive now.

I'm curious about mounting the electronics all on the right-hand side?
Is that just for wiring convenience?

Or does it perhaps balance the weight of the motor which hangs further out to the left side?

Also, is the front of your body held in place by the shock tower?
Or is there Velcro in there somewhere?

The electronics on the right side was to help balance the chassis and additional make the rest of the receiver wiring more tidy. I'll have to put the car on the corner scales tomorrow and see how the weight actually is left-right, but I would bet it is better than being on the left.

The body has velcro on the sides, you can barely make it out in the photo.

What is the part number for the battery strap? I hate paying the inflated eBay prices for them.
