So, how did it run?

The B3 did not run - it had no radio in it. There are still a couple of little things that need to be done - and with a perfectionist like our firend here - nothing short of perfect will make him happy.

Yeah wasn't going to run it last weekend even if I got it ready, wasn't looking forward to pulling it all apart again to clean it!

Changed the steering bellcranks to accept ball bearings, have to mill a flat on the top of the left post to clear the belt and drill the brace to put screws into the top of the posts. Gotta make wing mounts too, will be making something like most current cars have screwed to the rear shock tower. Then it should be ready to go

Looking fwd for the test run: should help on deciding to continue the 4x4 ultima or keep it in the fridge longer

You've gotta finish that thing, doesn't look like there's much left to do on it?

Yeah I was thinking dirt hawgs might be good on the front for 4wd too and will never wear out, i'll have to get another pair

I have to ask, are you going to maybe produce a limited production run of this conversion? I would most certainly be interested in purchasing one or two from you!

Nah there's too much custom stuff to go into production really. I'm pretty sure not too many people would be interested in an old B3 conversion, maybe if I could come up with a decent B4 conversion

Only way to produce the gearbox would be injection moulding and i'm pretty sure it'd take a fair bit of coin to setup. Took several hours to machine just the gearbox case by hand

Finished off the transmission braces. Had to file a bit out of the brace to clear the belt but it's attached to the chassis at 4 points so I don't think it'll break.
I've mounted the electronics and all that in the car. Milled that steering post for belt clearance. Servo linkage passes underneath the belt (just) when turning left incase anyone was wondering Got a servo saver on the servo now to replace the original type setup which I couldn't use because of the belt.

Going to race it this sunday in 4WD stock, hopefully get to the track before then to try it out first. I'll try to get someone to make some vids, haven't got a video cam myself.

DAMN TANK - that is looking superfly!!

Wish I wasnt so damned busy this weekend - or I would make the 6 hour round trip to see it run!
