I'm thinking that I'd like to go to be a spectator, rather than an on-track hazard to the real racers. Also, transporting all the parts and gear I'd need seems more like a drive there, not a fly there situation. The AE $150 signup thing is intended for racers, correct? The $50 meal ticket would be for anyone? I'm sure spectators wouldn't be allowed to purchase the unannounced Plaid Edition Ten4Clone, but I could get over that missed opportunity.

unlike the Hoosier race, it doesnt sound like there will be a mechanics spot in the pits for support members. I dont know if the pits will be open or not, it would be bad for the racers if it were. There may just be a spectator area. Its all up in the air really until they announce something. I have a hotel room booked and its a short drive for me, but with the current goings on and the way they are running the race, I dont know if I want to waste my time supporting it anymore. The race format is a joke, the fees are a joke (seriously), and im just having a hard time pulling the trigger on a $150 ticket to race, because i wont be racing anyway, just to get the chance to buy a kit that probably wont be anything interesting anyway. Seeing Masami and Lett, who wont be in Indiana, would really be the only perks.

I think the race fee is in line with renting a large venue at a Hotel. Those spaces are not cheap. I actually think this is a good model for bigger regional vintage or new races. Allows guys to come from farther, park car at hotel and be done. For those flying in you have all stuff there and not have to travel back and forth to a hotel anyways which means extra gas, rental car expense which makes $150 seem cheap for a weekend and just extra time back and forth to track.

I've struggled with other regional events and such for this reason. Have to fly in, challenging enough, then no way to avoid renting car for 3 to 4 days when there which is a lot of money and hassle. In this arrangement, fly in, Uber to Hotel and set up camp, done.

Removes a lot of hassle at least and better chance at a good nights sleep. And for my old a$$, a good nights sleep is worth the money and then some.

Its a shame that additional classes are still $150 when the first class gets you the meal and a t shirt for that money although I don't think the first $150 is that unreasonable either - its a multi day event. Either way, I'm going as I can drive there making it cheaper than any other vintage race for me.

Not saying it should actually happen, but if a real Ten4 were to show up at this race, that would definitely be something special. I'm sure Andrew Smolnick would concur.

Just saying...for $150 in Vegas, you can get a happy ending without racing. Wrong city to host an R/C race.
