In looking at the Bolink body compared to the Parma, just noticed the rear of the Parma does not come to a point, it just cuts off:

The Dead Pool Parma body has the gas cap painted on:

Trying out these Liquid Chrome pens

Testing the chrome out on the right rear window frame and the gas cap.

I'll wait for 24 hours to see how it dries, and then decide to keep going. Black paint might be here tomorrow.

I think I found out why Rook only briefly used this model as an early prototype.

It's much louder in person .

Got the Tamiya black today too. Going to keep going on the chrome tonight. Might need to use a silver spray for the grill instead of a pen.

Maybe a dab of white behind the chrome paint to keep the black from darkening it. The black probably should have been done before the chrome.

The chrome is opaque, but the black behind it should make it appear solid aluminum without the light bleeding through. I'll know soon enough.

These pens aren't going to cut it, I believe this pen is for painting the outside of models, the inside of lexan just looks bad.

Image

I'll let it dry overnight and see. It wipes off with alcohol too easily.

Confirmed, these pens are for the outside of plastic, not for painting inside lexan. Pretty realistic effect on the outside.
Image

Inside of lexan might as well be gray paint with this pen though.
Image

Already have a brush and some Tamiya X-11 chrome silver.
Image

Unfortunately Tamiya only makes their X-11 paint pens in enamel, not acrylic. I'm going to have to brush the window frames and grills.

I have been waiting for some Tamiya Polycarbonate paint remover since December 10th, it's supposed to be here today from Singapore, and by chance, with the Tamiya Paint Retarder, so I can hopefully get the chrome silver to lay flat and evenly (self level).

I looked for that '85 C4 vette, 1/8 scale, already too.

The stuff on the table looks like the movie crew went to Toy's 'R Us during the filming, and just bought at that time, what they thought Harlan Rook would've experimented with along the way; but inexpensively as those toys were not hobby grade, but toys you'd find in the plastic cheapy aisle back then. Must've been 1986 or after, because the remote control '63 vette in the YT vid above, has copyright 1986 on the bottom.

I may have that exact glue gun in my Mom's garage, I'll look next time I'm there.

The chrome pens look really good on the surface in person, very shiny and convincing. I used two different brush sizes next to the pen, with the Tamiya X-11 acrylic. The dots in the middle are X-11.

I'm trying to avoid brush strokes, and the Tamiya Paint Retarder should help with that, according to this video I watched.

IMG_9975.jpeg
Hard to tell because of how dirty/dusty and unfortunately the only picture I have of one of the bodies I used it on but it’s straight up chrome on the Z/28 windows and stripes. Worked great with the candy blue as well. Came out like blue ano. It gets backed with black.

Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out 8)

Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome does look good! I'll have to give that a try at some point, thanks!

Got my Tamiya Paint Retarder today, hoping to try it out on the window frames tomorrow. Got some kydex sheets too.
Image

Anyone have an idea how they got the kydex to stick to the middle of the tub, without screws?

Looks like an extra steering servo hole in the chassis. Is it too nice to Dead Pool though?

I was looking for an early front arm car to match the movie car, and wanted to find a well used one with no manual or box, to dye and paint, and not feel bad about desecrating a vintage one. But even those A stamp parts cars are over $400 usually.

The one I bought was from an Estate sale apparently, and from a seller who didn't know exactly what he had there, he put Buy it now $299 on it. Once in a lifetime chance, may have to sell it if it gets here and it is in fact too nice.

Getting back to The Dead Pool body: I put the X-11 on and was ready to paint the window frames. Then I thought about using Liquid Mask, and Alcald II Lexan Chrome on it, instead. Barbatos Rex from YT, did a video, and Alclad II looked really good for an aerosol can against the rest.
Image

Liquid Mask would also allow for the chrome window frames and running board at the bottom of the doors to be painted really cleanly, if I can cut it properly with the Xacto.
Image

Will decide tomorrow.
