Caught my attention with this build. Nice job.
Looks like great fun.

Reminds of the time my dad and I lit a jetex powered rocket car in the basement.
The motor misfired and filled the basement with smoke. It was awesome. I was just 5 or 6.

The motor, as I remember it, was like this one
Can't wait to see your results.

Yes sir I am!...but I have alot initial testing to do first....
Plus "E" engines have entered the mix...I have d, e and f...single and dual engines, plus I have to figure the parachute timing system, and the rocket igniters are browning out my receiver, so a relay system has to be installed...seems easy, but it's a very complicated setup...but I will figure it out and get footage, from 3 different camera angles!....also with all builds, there are politics involved, delicate politics!

For the igniter, I might have chosen a simpler setup.

I would have used a microswitch on the brake servo and wired it to the battery. Then the current wouldn't have to go through the receiver.

But I have seen some small (5 amp ?) relays that should work. You would just need to get power directly from the battery.

I concur...and the Diamond One will agree with u...we had a mini beef a few nights back over it....but the current won't be going thru the receiver when I get the relay wired up...this has to react instantly!...in case some Outlaw no prep guys want a race...I will dust em'...seriously won't even be close

The relay will be instant. But the light-off time of the engine will be your problem.

Unless you can get your timing down, an electric car will be long gone. You may get someone while playing on the street but anything with a timing system will work against you.

This is why jet cars have always been a sideshow.

Once I figure the timing of the ignition, I can set the delay in the timing box and hit the button off the 1st or second stage light...u no the drill...those guys won't stand a chance against this thing...if it goes straight, lol!

Looks like its gonna take twin F15-0 rockets to beat this dude...yes the rocket car can do it...should hit a buck 25 in that time , but like juicedcoupe said, getting off the line 1st will be key

This eliminates the need for the servo/micro switch...I have used it in the past to start nitro engines etc....pulls big amps without going thru receiver

The brown out issue is fixed with item from above post...weather permitting, making a single "D" shakedown run in morning before work

That's awesome it survived the maiden voyage. Putting a solid object behind the car will increase the thrust as it gives the car something to push off of.

How stable was it?
