RC10LSO that I couldn't pass up

Been debating to use lipo shorty or nimh saddle packs. I bought a few of those low voltage alarms since I may use my brushed tekin esc with the lipo. I also thought maybe going brushless for this car but still undecided of what direction to take this project. I am building a 10LS from spares and thought of maybe making that car the "nimh" car as the slots have already been filed out to fit the larger capacity sub-c cells and the LSO the "lipo" car as the chassis has holes already drilled for the battery holders. Any ideas from fellow pan car junkies which direction to take?

They make (or made?) LiPo Saddle Packs too. That might give you some flexibility.

This direction that you are already thinking of going makes excellent sense to me.

This is the LS wide car that I am building alongside the LSO. I have enough spare parts to complete another car. I thought building it may result in clearing up my storage bins a bit more. I have a few ideas on body and paint for each car. A modern body with a well known 80s race car theme.

A modern body with a 80's race theme sounds really cool. I'm trying to do the same on my 12L3... a modern take on the Bolink Porsche but with a "twist".

The LSO has been put on hold till my order of silicon wire comes in. In the meantime, I worked a bit more on the parts bin LS build. One thing I came across is what I think is several Bud's diff cones and washers. I am not sure if these are any better than the Associated diff thrust cone assembly or not. I don't know if the Buds cone is missing the belleville washers or not. I don't have the instructions for the Buds kit so I am confused how they should be put together.

My SuperWorm wire arrived and I was able to finish the LSO soldering and finalize the parts layout. The low voltage alarm displays the correct voltage for each cell after swapping the two positive leads. It is very loud! I jumped a bit when I first plugged it in! The Tekin ESC had an intermittent power switch so I had to pry it open and clean the contacts. The vintage Futaba servo works quite well considering how old it is along with the receiver. The steering ball cups were too tight. So I took off the ball ends and chucked them into a hand drill. I applied some toothpaste on the ball and snapped on the cup and turned them with the drill. Then cleaned them up and no more binding. The lightspeed motor roared to life when lipo power was applied! The car left/right weight distribution is balanced suprisingly well and not much tweak will be needed. Now I must decide on what body to choose and get it painted.

Thanks! - the LSO has been a fun project so far. The lipo will certainly breathe some new life into it!
