Project XX
Re: Project XX
After a quick clean here and there, it's ready to be stripped and some new NIP bits to go on.

Re: Project XX
Forgot to ask, what's the difference between the black and grey shock bodies? Just a general update in colour?

Re: Project XX
Damn that's a nice looking car, it's cleaned up really well. I am seriously thinking of starting a XX build, but I know it's gonna cost a lot, and I am just finishing off a XXX-T Matt Francis...
Re: Project XX
To be fair to the previous owner it was quite clean, I've just gone over it again with a fine toothbrush.
Got some new front and rear graphite arms on their way now, as well as a new graphite rear shock tower.
Anyone know what the thread/pitch is on the shock bodies? I want to get some blue shock adjusting rings but unsure on what to look for.

Trinity used to do them, I have a spare used set if you want them. No idea on thread pitch though.oldrc wrote:To be fair to the previous owner it was quite clean, I've just gone over it again with a fine toothbrush.

The updated parts will really look cool on this!

Re: Project XX
So last night, the lights were dim, the kids were in bed, a glass of wine lay on the side. I looked over to the wife and thought yes, yes this is the night baby, it's time... to build my new shocks!
An hour later I had them done, now just to put the oil in. It was at this point I remembered how much of a pain in the arse I personally find these 'bottom fill' shocks to bleed of air. After 20 years off, I still can't do a good job of it! So we're in to the next night and they are all done, the oil is wiped away off the table, my hands, the chair, the babys bib, the carpet, my hair, yep I think we are done! Photos tomorrow it's a bit dark in here now.
Oh and thanks to jamin for sorting me out with the shock adjusters too
Had some NIP goodies arrive today:
Rear tower is on after scrubbing the chassis in soapy water. I noticed something on the chassis today which I'll have to tend to, pics tomorrow

Re: Project XX
With all those new parts going on, am I right in thinking that this build is destined for the shelf...?

Re: Project XX

Sleeps with a night light on, not because he's scared of the dark but because the dark is scared of him...........stay thirsty my friends
Re: Project XX
No it will be used, the reason for new parts is that I want to build it up looking tidy and as new as possible, the existing parts will be used as spares.LosiXXkid wrote:With all those new parts going on, am I right in thinking that this build is destined for the shelf...?
