I missed the latest update on this. It's going great, I like all the white on the car. RPM makes some of the style rod ends on the rear, they're badged as traxxas ends, and they come in white. Here's a link but you can probably get them anywhere..

Which size pivot balls do you need to work with those, and what size screw do you need to use with them

I have a need for something similar on the front of one of my Lazer/Mid hybrids and bought some metal rod ends instead but this could be a neater solution

Per tower's website (IDK how reliable  ) Those are to replace stock traxxas rod ends which use these 4.5 mm balls. Like these http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXSD0&P=7 They need a 2.5mm screw, I think?

Thanks for the tip guys! I left this project alone for awhile to work on my LWB shelf queens. I tend to change focus now and then  Just got the info that our yearly vintage meeting will be held in may/june this year so I have time to make it a great runner. Before now I was certain that the car should get a brushless motor and lipos but after I went through my pile of vintage electrics I might use some old stuff.

j0pp3 wrote:Here is a small update. Replaced the yellow nuts with white ones. Also mounted white rod ends (RPM), black turnbuckles (Axial) and matching ball studs (Associated). In the rear I still have black outer rod ends because of the different mounting. Maybe I could find white versions of those too?
j0pp3, all your builds are excellent; the threads are even more excellent than the builds, haha! But this one, I like the little details that you're focusing on; the white ball-cups & nuts to match the arms and body. That (in addition to the carbon fiber) sets this car apart from the rest. I hope you can find white captured ball-ends for the rear outers, but I honestly can't recall ever seeing them in white...good luck in your search. 8)

Thanks guys!

This car has become a long-term project but I have a mini update for you. Found some SG Coyote rear tires on Ebay (at least they were advertised like that) and temporary put them on some random five-spoke touring rims (that is too wide). Together with a yellow colored body this became an alternative look for the car. Emperors new groove?

Uuups, this time I forgot to compensate for the overexposure :) Next step involves crafting another rear shock tower so the body can be mounted properly. Also have to find a set of slimmer rims.

I'll start to make carbon wings.
Have lots of ideas in my head.
Could fit this car perfect.

Thanks Dennis! I'm soon going to try using a sheet of "astro turf" as a background instead. Then it might look like she's on the local track already :D

Looks great, j0pp3. 8) The rear tires look a tad narrow, mind you...I wonder how it would affect traction at the back?

I understand your concern, Coelacanth. Although I don't think it will be a problem as I will run it on astro turf.

Here's a fish-eye photo from last outdoor season showing the track at our local club. Only problem right now is that it's still partly covered with snow...
