Great vids did you guys use brushed or brushless motors

The purple car has a 13.5 brushless motor. The blue car and Ruffy's car both use a 19t brushed setup. I'm waiting on an esc to arrive from LRP then the blue car will be brushless too.

The Radiant also uses the LRP Brushless setup in it.

Great read, thanks. So, putting new tires on vintage cars seems like a must. How have tires evolved so much - is it the size, tread?

From the old RC10 tire size, material and tread have evolved a lot. Back then we would have to modify the tires we had or mess around with suspension set ups to make the tires work. Looks like know there is always a tire that works on any track especially with the softer materials use now. I dig the modern tires but they don’t last like they use to.

The tires do help greatly, but the wheels are what we have identified as being the issue when contemplating in racing a vintage car.
There just aren't enough rims out there for racers to race with trying to keep it all vintage. Rims on ebay are the only way and they are pricey and rare. So the change as the JHarris cars have is the way to go, by using B4 wheels you don't shorten your supply of available wheels and tires that are also a larger diameter to boot!
Happy racing.

OK Although these next images and report are not from the same indoor track, I will rename this thread to Vintage RC10 Florida Racing.
This next report comes from Daytona Beach, Florida on Sat. 4-24-2010 where JHarris, his family and myself joined numerous other racers in a round of one of the Florida State Series Races that spans a few tracks, with racers from all over Florida in attendace. Attendance was very good on this day which would be great measure of each racers abilities.
The weather was perfect and as for the track conditions, well I will let those that ran on it chime in and tell their story. I myself did not bring anything to race and did not run at this event, but attended for what I believed was going to be a very short time in the morning to hand off more bodies to my painter friend, and then leave as my wife and I are not fond of the Florida sun for long periods of time. We have found in the past that the heat is just too much for us now.
But what was supposed to be a stay of just two to three hours turned out to be an all-dayer! It was that exciting.

To respect each persons privacy, I have blurred some people's faces in the following images, but keep an eye out to see how many vintage cars you can spot!

In the morning, preparation went on as the racers all practiced, tweaked and tuned their various machines for the upcoming battles they chose to participate in.

Here is the JHarris pit area and you can see some serious race cars being prepared for battle.
On display I had placed my v.1 Boxter car on the table, but it was initially brought to show one guy that I was to meet at this event.

The qualifying rounds were amazing, with the following racing action which was fantastic and intense at times. I will let those that participated tell their story, but to surmise:
After 2 rounds of qualifying, with enough racers to fill an A, B and C main event, and with most all cars represented being the mighty Associated B4 buggy; 2WD qualifying had been topped by one of the Harris boys with his vintage RC10 purple team car by a few seconds to boot!
The announcer, spectators and other racers were surprised and bewildered by what had just taken place. Many stopped by our pits to view the vintage cars, and we have just found out that as a result of what has transpired at the indoor track and at this event, that we will have more company in the vintage class/regular class with old RC10's, since more and more racers are now trying to get their hands on vintage cars to race with us.

Not only is he a great driver, but his car handled noticeably better over the entire tough course with rythm sections, big air jumps and long straights than the other cars which we were very pleased to find!
I will let them tell their story as it was amazing!!

On another note, I'd like to thank murphy3428 for his polished motor plate idea for my original powder coated AE chassis I have had for ages, and for JHarris for providing one of his motor plates that he then sent out to be chromed as a gift to me! Take a look at how awesome this looks before my new build starts. This one will be another runner I think; but should I :
a) Use a 6-gear tranny OR
b) Use a stealth?
I'm leaning towards the 6-gear to go full-out vintage with a blue 27 turn AE motor, since I already have my '93 Worlds Car as my runner with the 3 piece front wheels and "then pre-production" front and rear worlds tires.

Thank-you Jeff!

Someone was making the under trays not too long ago but the member slips my mind. They were nicely done too.
