Oh my  that is really a sweet looking car
I love all the photos ..Do you the narrow front arms ??

Here is a scan from the manual showing the viper arm and wiring
Hope that can help you find the problem

Wait, my bad LOL!
That resistor doesnt have a reverse. If your wiper is wired per the diagram, then check the motor.
Thats resistor only has forward and brake. So if it is going in reverse, it might be the motor wiring is backwards.

very nice car that started life as a very early model. Most of the difficult and hard to find pieces are there. Especially the goodyear tires. the hardest part you will have to find would be the fiberglass battery braces. The other parts to make it period correct are somewhat easy to find, they include:
old style steering bellcrank system
as mentioned, short front arms
threaded rod control links

the servo control link should be bent wire with setscrew collars as well. Most of this stuff is probably in peoples' stash of spare and used parts, so you should be able to get them easily.

it's up to you, but you have a very well preserved example of an early car which would be more valuable restored to it's original vintage.

check out the manual to see how it originally went together.

you lucked out pretty nicely I would say!!!

[quote][the rear bulkheads were the same all the way up to the C.E. that came out in 88-89./quote]

step away from the vehicle.....slowly - and put down the tools :!:

clean that thing up and put it back to stock 1984 RC10 and stop worrying about your speed control

go on ebay and buy a gold pan to bash and race with your friends.

my 2 cents

Ok, I was a little off on my year but I have a new built un-run short arm car with short wing tube bulkhead. Parts catalog dated September 1988.

well, i know i've never seen a short arm car, that i know was built right from the kit and not just pieced together, with a short wing tube bulkhead.

the rc10 that i used for my halsey replica was completely original from the kit. when i got it, the receipt from purchase was still in the box, which was Nov. '88. it has the long tube bulkhead.

I didn't build it but it is new built with the box, instructions and misc and totally stock :?: I found it about a year ago from a guy who built it and put it back in the box.

Sorry, those long arms did not exist in 1984 :?
Believe what you read on this site and spend some time on slotcarrod's thread on the 25 years of RC10 - he has your exact car in pristine original un-molested condition. Great car, do it justice

and you should be able to reverse the servo on the transmitter.
