The classics I guess is a little mis-named. Maybe it should be called non-competition bred chassis class. :?: (I'm sure somebody could come up with a different name that rolls off the tongue a little better)

If you want a seperate class for the box stock type rides, then roll the early short arm RC10's and Ultimas in this class as well. The silver can motors being the limiting factor. If you start splitting them up too much, I think it would be a mistake. But in all fairness, the 2wd buggy class is the largest one there, so it could stand a little segregation. I don't agree with limiting the battery packs to the "cheap" low Mah versions. That means I would have to go out and rebuy packs I would likely never use again. The motor would be the most equalizing factor IMO.

I totally agree. The last thing I ever wanted in the design of this race was to have people have to buy more stuff. The big idea was that you could spend 100 bucks on ebay and show up with exactly what you bought and race. I went with brushless and lipo assuming everyone had them or could use them if they didn't. I didn't want people to have to have brushes, dynos, comm lathes, and all that hoopla.

I love the idea of having a "more vintage" class for shorm arm cars, etc. My only thought is that I honestly haven't seen too many of either in the past two years. I fear that it would be 2 or 3 guys with short arms 10s and that would be aobut it. Does anyone really have an ultima that they'd race? I was also thinking of breaking things down something along the lines of 80s and 90s originally... maybe its time to revisit that. I'm still working on a few hand out ideas so hopefully I'll have a better idea soon.

Hey Erich, don't advocate any changes based on my ramblings. ;)
It seems that I am in a very small minority anyway, and I've already made the decision that I won't be there this September.
I'll be watching for the videos and pictures. Best of luck to everyone!

No worries Jeff. I was posing the question with the thought if there's one maybe there's more. I think the most important thing to do is always give people what they are looking for. I'm all for more classes as long as there's a response but it would have to be at least 4 or 5 for it to be fun for anyone.

Erich, What do you think about adding a 2wd mod class for the more experienced racers.

I think adding a "MOD" class will just dilute the field. in my opinion. The 17.5 cars here are going just as fast as mod cars. Isnt 17.5 enough for the vintage class.

I agree with Mr Garcia, if the classes are broken up to much you will end up with like three cars in a class.

17.5 is more than adequate for the VONATs and for RCHR, last year's winner was only running a second slower with a 17.5 powered RC10, than his 8.5 powered RB5....

Although, I understand some people rather win the Sportsman Class than winning the 2wd B-main...

I just want the classes to be as large as possible.

From my RCHR experience there are TONS of guys who race weekly with the most ridiculous motors money can buy and honestly they don't go any faster anywhere on the track. I think 17.5 is a good point for our cars. My thought first and foremost is not going so fast that people break cars they may not have parts for. I like the idea of expanding the class into perhaps a "pro" class of some sort but maybe it should be more along the lines of what we were talking about before having a pro and a true vintage class or something like that.

On another note. Tamiya has committed to giving out handout motors for the Classic class. They're sending a case of Sport Tuned 540s so that class should be pretty exciting this year. I'm also going to split it off into a beginner type class for the kids to enjoy... name yet to be determined. Sponsors are starting to commit and things are getting rolling. I'll have more soon!
