Mid motor car question

you might have thought about this already, but try to mount the servo similar to a B4 to keep the
weight centered--Very cool project!

I've done it, bur with a tub chassis the steering can be limited. Since you're doing a double decker solution you might not have that problem. My solution to more battery space is using a standing low profile servo. I've posted that before, here's a pic:



as you can see there's enough space to move the servo even further to the front.

Stumbled upon this one today Miguel. Any update on it, or did you start a new thread in the other makes section? I turned my Ultima Pro rear end around because of looks with the body I mounted, but also have an sincere interest in the Mid concept. By the way, did you consider some Ultima arms for the front end? They are 1/8 narrower than RPM worlds/Dynotechs pin to pin. With the wider traxxas bulkhead, might be an option. I've been thinking of throwing some on my RC10 with standard bulkhead for using B4 wheels, or going with the truck bulkhead, and using the RB5 spindles to gain back some width and use 12mm hex wheels...

Man, I stop working on it and started 4 more projects, I also stop working on it because this chassis did not cut well and I needed to cut a new one but did not feel like it.
I still have some plans but probable not going to work on it yet.

Hey... nobody mentioned a true reverse rotation motor. I have a sweet Trinity Nuclear Assault 9t single with the aluminum endbell. Didn't realize it was reverse rotation until I put in my homegrown sk car! I am planning to build a mid-motor around that motor. Unsure if I will use a stealth or track master.

Sorry, all I have left are the pics you see I think it sold for $9 without the tranny. If it shows up again as a sprint I will know the purchaser had the same vision.

It ran like a scalded dog! It was ok on the oval but pushed (hey, the front suspension was wire!!!). Fun on the street. This was my first effort at a mid-motor and took about two hours all-told. I cut the tub down with the intent of running aluminum channel down either side of a centered battery, slightly shaved to clear the outdrives (never got that far). I envisioned the outer sides of the chassis as big nerf bars. The tranny/chassis brace was rolled over pvc and angled on the vice, finished the tight 90 with a hammer (hey, sometimes I like to hammer stuff). It bolted to the chassis and the aluminum channel rear shock mount mounted to it (comprende?). I used the same aluminum for the front shock mount. Not perfect, not pretty, but pretty cool. More importantly, I had fun.
