I think the old ones will still retain there value... it will never be the Rough Rider again, now the Buggy Champ. Re-re or not, you can't change the fact that the originals are 30 years old.

I can't wait to finally get ahold of one of these.
Something tells me the Sand Scorcher ain't too far behind!
With Proline cranking out new Bug bodies every month or so, it's only a matter of time when Tamiya will have to dust off the molds!
It's great that Volkswagen has finally pulled it's head out of it's @$$ and allowed the R/C crowd to be blessed with officially licensed products!
For VW and R/C nuts, we may experience the best R/C year ever!

Heck, the Tamiya bug mold should still be warm. When did they discontinue the Blizter Beetle? 06 or 07 or so?
I'd go for a Parma bug body over a Proline, they look more like the Tamiya one. If Tamiya re-releases it as a Sand Scorcher, I will probably get one.

I'd go for Mr. Lex's bug before Parma. At least you'd know the corners wont be all crushed or messed up...

Haven't seen Jay's bug body. I have two Parma bugs and two Bolink bugs. All four look awesome, no flaws at all.

Hmm...
Maybe a Buggy Champ with a lexan body for the entry level class at the Vnats?

I know you might say I am biased, but too be totally honest..... the bug mold really is the best detailed mold I have. It really is great with all the details of the original SS, which really is suprising since it is a lexan mold. Also I am using 0.060 lexan, so it is very sturdy lexan.... there is no damage or thinning anywhere. I was impressed with the finished pull and you guys would be too.

Hmm, Jay you're definitely tilting the sales scale to the "yes" side with that information for me. How cool would that be? Racing a Sand Scorcher. I had been thinking of getting a re-re Frog to race, then I was thinking of building a Sassy Clod, but this is looking so cool. Real old school racing. And, I already have a Parma bug on my LXT that I didn't have ready to race in time last year. I could have an all bug team, one in the ST class, the other in the entry level class.

Well,
It's official....$513 on Tamiya USA's website.
Ouch.
Based on Tower hobbies pricing discount off other Tamiya products priced at a similar MSRP, that should put it around $350.
Now that we have a choice of either a 30 year old beater priced in that range (and up), the new one doesn't seem like such a bad deal.

Check this out...
There is a japanese hobby shop listing it at $289 already...If my local hobby shops can keep it under $300 (or Tower has it), I have no doubt that I'll own one soon.
It may be time to unload my RC10GT to finance this one.

I'm afraid that when I buy this, Tamiya will release the Sand Scorcher within a month or so...Argh...
In the mean time, I can always go back to watching lousy driver's driving an incredibly cool car..
