All I can picture in my head is Scr8p's paint booth door swinging open and that turtle crawling out with a box art shell and RC10Talk stickers on the side, and Scr8p standing in the bckground saying "now that's a painted turtle!".

for a turtle shell, it'd have to be done in a kyosho boxart.

The other week, due to a new customer car coming in, we had to clean up the garage and make some room. Well I was finally able to unbury the engine that I'm gonna be putting in my 55 chevy and get it up on the engine stand.
For the last couple weeks I'd work on it here and there. Pulling the valve covers, intake, etc., and removing the old paint. Well I finally got it painted today. Instead of the typical chevy orange, I had some olds bronze left over from painting the 400 in Paul Sr.'s car so I used that. Now I can start getting it back together and ready to go in the car.

That is going to look very very nice man!

i've had this pic for awhile, found it online. a 55 4dr like mine with a photoshoped drop. i'm hoping that with drop spindles and springs up front, and drop leafs (and maybe blocks) out back i can get mine close to this.

Yup, a slight front to back droop. With that engine block and a sweet paint job it will look great.

i'm not worried too much about painting it right now. the whole goal for this car (when i got it in '01) was to convert it into a 2dr, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon. just gonna get the drivetrain taken care of, suspension, brakes, exhaust and get it on the road. it's been sitting around long enough.

That will look great. I think I always liked the '55 and '56 more than the '57.

That paint you used for the block, I hope it'll stand up to the heat? I love the color, definitely will stand out from the crowd...not that there'll be much of a crowd of that era of cars in any one place except a car show.

we normally use dupont centari enamel on engines with a gloss hardener which holds up great. this paint is actually one of the PPG lines of paint. we've used it before on other oldsmobiles we've built and it seems pretty durable too, with the hardener added. i don't know much about the PPG line, as i've mainly sprayed dupont (went to school, learned the systems, got the certificates, etc.). but the guy that we've built the majority of the oldsmobiles for owns his own paint company (Color-Rite). they use ppg products to create their products. so, he would just bring paint down and say... here, use this. well, alright.

Those are twins...To hell with paint...Make it run , turn and stop and you will be golden...Maybe some vintage air...That will be a nice cruiser because of the 4 doors...You don't have to worry about people climbing in and out and tearing up the seats...

eventually it'll get a/c. me and heat, we don't agree as much as we used to when i was younger.

A real one or aftermarket?

The 55 is my favorite of that style of years for chevy. 56-57 are nice buit been done and done again, I like that 4 door sleeper, stance is bang on. keep the progress and projects coming.


Whats the new customer project coming?

The new one is a 66 SS396 Chevelle. The guy bought it in 1970 when he was 16, it was his first car and he still owns it. It'll be a complete body off resto. This pic is from the day we went to pick it up. It's gutted now.
