Ah man I love Gassers. A family member has an original Henry J (as well as some Hillman's and other weirdo stuff) on the east coast I hope to pick up some day soon. I've loved them since I was a kid.

my dad thought of doing his like that, with the mono leaf. but he's just gonna do parallel leafs. he's debating now if he was a straight or drop axle. trying to figure out how high he wants it.

pretty much my whole life. all i've ever done is work on cars. my dad has done it his entire life too, so i've been around it since day 1.

Welp..... gone and done it now.

The tubing should be here tomorrow to make the new frame rails, and the straight axle setup should be here probably by the end of the week.

The original henry j engine on the right, and the one going in it on the left. It's a baby hemi (1955 dodge 315), but it's one big ass baby.

My dad's been rolling on the new front clip....

Gassers are cool and all, but are HenryJs getting harder to come by these days? Lot of them were gassed' BITD (apparently now too ). I did an image search and found quite a few cool pics of resto-mod styled J's. That would be more my taste, but hey, its your and/or your dad's car, not mine.

We set the engine in last week. It made me think of chris farley's fat guy in a little coat routine in the movie tommy boy. pics don't do the size of that engine justice sitting in a henry j engine compartment.

Came to find out it was gonna have be set back a few inches so it was centered over they front axle. Moved the axle ahead an inch as well so the engine set back wasn't huge. The recess panel isn't finished yet. My dad needs to grt the bellhousing and adapter plate to mount a muncie 4sp to the hemi. Then he can fabricating a new trans/driveshaft tunnel
