Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread
I realized I hadn't posted any pics of my chopper since I finished it up a month or two ago. First, I took it apart and had the frame powdered candy blue. The shop did an insanely good job, it looks like a really, really good paint job, not powder. I put a slick on the back, off a horse racing buggy and a retro looking tire on the front. Mini ape hanger bars give it a more comfortable riding position and better lines. A Brooks springer seat to save my butt (because it absorbs every bump because of the riding position) and a 2 tooth taller sprocket for a better gear ratio. Needless to say, this thing turns a lot of heads. It's really a blast to ride. Wouldn't want to do 20 miles on it, but 10 is fine.
Oh, and the kickstand was just slightly tweaked. I got a new one that was the same length and turns out that it was just a bit too short. I cut it and JB Welded/hose clamped a piece of rebar to the stump. Pretty happy with my kickstand.

I've had my Yeti SB-66 for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. Best bike I've ridden ever.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

That S&M is slick!
Here's my latest. It's a 2005 Kappa K26. Kappa was an incredible retro BMX company out of Kalamazoo MI from about 1999 till 2009. I just got it built up with lots of trick parts.

Here's my vintage ride bought when new way back, cleaned it up some and added some gold powder coating treatment.

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread
Over the last couple of weeks I've been steadily working on improving my easy racer recumbent. I bought a year ago for $400 which is only a fraction of the $2400 they cost new. I bought it looking like this.

I stripped it down to the frame and polished the paint. Used naval jelly to remove the rust and polished the aluminum bars with Mother mag wheel polish.

The wheels turned out to be junk. The rear rim was dented and the front wheel is radially laced and for some reason despite two rim strips, the spokes nipples would rub a hole in the tube. So I laced up a set of Sun CR18 rims with an Shimano XTR front hub and the original Shimano LX rear hub. I went with a nice set of Kenda Kwest tires

I wasn't satisfied with stock SRAM grip shift components. So I switched everything out for XTR components. For cranks I used a set of Caramba double barrels

The rear derailuer was an Shimano XT which was more than adequate but I want all the gruppo to match. I also put a nice Uni disc on the rear wheel to cut down on wind drag

I took it out for a quick spin around the neighborhood and I am ecstatic about nice it rides now. The shifts are so crisp and the brakes feel so on point.

Miles just inherited his moms' Trek 8000 Super Light Race- first trail ride this AM
Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread

nothing special. cheesy Micargi cruised. Rear fender has been pulled, reverse the gose neck to bring bottom of bars clower. and lowered seat all the way. PLan to cut the frame a little to get seat lower. Hopeful plans are still, disc brake front wheel. a new rear rim thats 3-4 inches wide, not just the tire, and add a Shimano 5 or 8 speed internal box, with suicide shifter. and rear disc brake. and a double foot center kick stand.
I eye ball the RUFF cycles from europe. really want one of them.
Dont know if anyone remebers the old school movie RAD. WHat BMX is to me from the day.

The guy in White Is AMrtin Aparijo was int he movie. I miss the 80's he lived 2 doors down from my grandma so during the 80's we used to see him and other bros Haro and such have freestyle duels in the street. These guys made it so why i still love 20' bmx bikes. Always fun riding new GT bikes before relased always 5 plus bikes in the garage us kids were allowed to ride. or When Knotts berry farm accros the street was working on the dirt lot across the street, they made 1/4 pipes of the piles, and watch them.
