I'll post a picture tonight when I get to the track of the transponder and required mounting. Also will post a picture of the changes we made to the track for the Vintage Nationals.

You can, theres no limit on cell but i have no idea why you'd want to. it'd be like a bull in a china shop.

do all vehicles have to have a number on the side/top? I know we are using automated lap counting systems, but some tracks I've been to are quite particular about the number thing.

I''m honestly not sure. That would probably be a better question for Mark. The number thing is more to make the announcers life easier than anything (god I remember when it was how your lap was counted... you had someone to manually enter the lap and someone to watch the finish line and call out when a number crossed lol).

i think a lot of the times, the numbers are more for the announcer/spectators to see what car is where...if you're running a personal, the numbers aren't as important since you normally can't have a PT fall out of your car :)

The one thing I forgot -

If you're running IFMAR/staggered starts, its alot easier for the announcer to call out "car 1 - go", "car 2 - go" etc - especially if there are non-local guys running...

plus it kinda helps on the starting grids :) 1 goes first (duh), 2 then 3 blah blah blah

I know I just ran at the HPI challenge in NJ and we had to have car numbers on all of ours - but that was more of an event-mandated thing for teching I guess (especially since I had 39-40-41 for car numbers)..I believe the IIC and snowbirds do it for a similar reason

It's not hard... repeat after me... "There goes Mark Westerfield, your race leader"... and repeat again.... ;)

Seriously I don't mind putting a number on a couple of my bodies, but others may not feel the same. (Similar thoughts on poking a transponder hole thru a body! ;) ) Vintage races are typically easier to call and/or watch-- the buggys actually look different (not all rtr pre-painted clones). I'll abide by the rules either way.

On a side note, the rules stated open electronics. Will split crystals be allowed for the 27mHz radios? It would ease up on some conflicts.

Did anyone else procrastinate like me? The best rate I could get online for the Holiday Inn was about $100 a night. Someone mentioned $85 a while ago and I may be able to get a cheaper room once I actually call.
I would be staying just Saturday night. Anyone want to split a non-smoking room? I'm just looking to make this less expensive.... I'm not looking for a long-term commitment.  Oh yeah-- it would be 2 beds...

If anyone has any questions about where other hotels are I can absolutely help. The hotel motel holiday inn is right up the street in downtown waterbury but there are practically several other ones within a 5min car ride.

You guys got a Motel 6 or a Super 8 close by? (read cheap)

I figure all I'll be doing is sleeping/showering in it, no need to spend too much.

I will be staying Thurs, Fri, Sat nights. Anybody want to share a 2 bed room let me know.
