Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
Most excellent, I'd copy this straightaway if I were to own one a hotshot or boomer.
Tiger1 I"d be happy to help you out with a couple standard ultima arms but I guess you were kidding about the challenge, right?

I would be very proud to see two other cars which have installed my front axle !

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
Getting the arms is one issue, then I will have the original front arms and do not know what to do with them, then this will also change the 'look' of the car a bit. Too many issues to consider and I am getting overloaded....Mr. ED wrote:Most excellent, I'd copy this straightaway if I were to own one a hotshot or boomer.

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
For testing, I've now ordered some DB01 damper. The second major issue is the tires and rims. No problem with off-road tires. But I also want a street setup. Does anyone have an idea ?
I've seen a few sets, which presumably would have the right size. But the rims are always in polished chrome. I do not think it fits. My dream would be foam rubber tires! I have seen on old photographs street-setups for Optimas. Something like this kind would be perfect!

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
I guess foam tires are still very popular with dirt oval racing. I was surfing through CustomWorks and they still have really good foam tires for 1/10th scale. Here is there website: http://www.customworksrc.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=Tires+and+Wheels
Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
Really interesting sets. But this kind of adapter will fit on Tamiya axles?
simply on the original cross pin and then push screw? What I would be interested as well. What is the diameter of these tires?

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
I think there are so of these wheels and tires at my hobby shop. I can try to go there and make some measurements for you. Thanks.

show us now what you've done so far. Maybe I can still steal ideas from you and install it in my Boomerang.

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
ok
. This is really impressive. I thought, you build a little less professional
with this project I can not keep up. Your chassis is really great ! And then the body
Please tell me how you can get a body cut so precisely. What tools do I need to buy and how many years should I practice?

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
Thanks for your kind words. The body was cut using curve scissors and rotary instruments, similar to dremel

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
michi, you are an absolute genious!!
i have been trying to come up with similar solution ( Flat replacement chassis) for the Boomerang, but never thought about an upper deck
for it. Your chassis design is awesome. You seriously should consider making a kit
. I'd buy 2!

Anand

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
Thank you for the compliment.
but I fear if I make a kit, it would not be affordable.
The production time with my machine would be very long. But let's just think for fun. How many of these kits would be able to sell well? How many guys as we are out there? I can not imagine, for example, how many Boomerang or Grasshopper Tamiya has ever sold .

I'm guesstimating thousands of them.michi wrote:Thank you for the compliment.but I fear if I make a kit, it would not be affordable.

Re: neighbour killed my boomerang ! The resurrection
It's got to be in the hundreds of thousands... or even possibly low millions. I think the crazy number hovering around about Traxxas T-Maxx is 1,000,000+ sold and even though it is the leader of the 2000's, the Tamiya's mentioned were king for many years for many people. I'm guessing at least half a million for both cars combined. Pulled that out of my butt though.Lowgear wrote:I'm guesstimating thousands of them.michi wrote:how many Boomerang or Grasshopper Tamiya has ever sold .
