Thanks!

If it wasn't for RC10talk.com, it might just have stayed a sad old B2 collecting dust.

This is a great forum for getting inspired!

I just hope this project will measure up (or at least come close) to all the others I've seen.

Updates:

The front wheels only took working up a little nerve to cut & narrow.
The Tamiya '67 Beetle window trim was a real pain to trim and get to look decent.
The Losi Desert Runner bumper is perfect after a bit of trimming and painting. (I love it!)
The Proline roof rack was nerve racking to fit to the curve of the Bug's body....Measure a dozen times, drill once!
I couldn't resist adding the Proline driving lamps.

I dig the classic old buses as much as the old air-cooled bugs.

(I know, this should be posted in the other forum...but)

The Maisto detail is 99% as good as Tamiya's, it would make a great tow vehicle for the bugs if it weren't for the cheap drivetrain.

I'm thinking of possibly tossing the "toy" guts out of it and making it into a street sleeper. The (Tamiya) bug's chassis would fit perfectly under it with a little help from the Dremel. I'm willing to bet most any touring car sized chassis would be an easy swap with minimal effort. I'm thinking a classic red & white paint job may be in the future.

As a bonus the lights already work, and it comes MP3 ready!

I might be hittin E-bay for a clean used chassis soon...

I dig the fenderless look!

That gives me an idea for a sand rail/baja bodied project!

Thanks
Proline just released their latest bug body also: with an engine molded in the boot. I think it said the wheelbase is 244mm... But I'm sure you can get away with a little longer too: front wheels tend to move inward to the body when the suspension is compressed (definitely with a 30 degree kick-up). And the wheels sticking out forward a bit at full extention is common to see on the real things too.

I coudn't resist adding junk to the roof rack.

Other than a missing surf board, it looks like it's heading out for a day at the beach.

I need to add the Igloo cooler, but I don't need all the other rock crawler stuff in the Proline package.

I'd hate to spend another $20 for just a minor detail.

I checked out the Proline body yesterday at a local shop. It's a large body, close to 1/8th scale.

The shorter version may be a perfect fit on my GT due to the wheelbase, but either would be tough to pull off on a stock 10th scale buggy or truck.

The detail is fantastic.

If your into something different in the Baja area, check out Prolines newest VW for the rock crawlers.

As soon as they make a 10th scale Shania Twain, I'm there.

An accustic guitar would look great on the rack.
