Nobody has yet mentioned how weird those look without a driver doll. Of all the car models that would seem to require one...it's THIS. :?

I'm not sure what looks dumber actually driving around...a modern cab-forward body that looks nothing like a real car, or an open cockpit vintage car model sans driver.
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

Of course you're right on that but I'll go one step further.
Can you imagine driving the Losi Promoto without a rider figure?

 they both look dumb, but cab-forward is the undisputed heavyweight world champion of looking dumb.

WW1 fighter pilot figures are readily available to serve as driver of the 20s sprint car. Nothing fixes cab-forward.

Without a driver, maybe it would be an even earlier version of K.I.T.T. than K.A.R.R., with this being the Knight Industries One Thousand: K.I.O.T.

I found one locally for $600. Almost want to get it and see if I fall in love with it, or just flip it if I don't.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.
