Next decision is 1/4" CVD or 3/16" CVD. For this build I'm leaning toward 1/4".

I also need to decide which gearbox is going in. I kind of think the new Factory Works / JC Racing hybrid gearbox would be the right setup, but have to think about it a little more. For now it's at a stopping point.

I have a nice 6 gear that has needed a home for a while. This chassis feels like the right one for it.
I didn't realize the AYK Buffalo had laydown rear shocks like this. I think I need to update the name to the Buff CAT

Got my bearings, in both axle sizes.
.
.
I don't use the jelly bean wheels very often, but since I have a nice set and the tires from my CC kit the 1/4 axles will get used in this build.

Now just the need to decide on a body.

I think this Penguin body is going to be the right choice since it's meant to end in front of the rear shock tower.

I like the low slung sawed off look of that body, great candidate for this build……
I’d say to figure out a paint scheme that shows off the lay down front shocks maybe either clear or trans candy. It would be a shame to cover them up.

We are thinking similarly on the paint scheme.
Body is trimmed and fitted. Rear body mount was moved forward a little over an inch and a new gearbox brace was added.

Started making some progress on finishing the bodywork. The painting went ok. Now more sticker work to do, and then picking out or making a rear wing.

A little peek through the suspension window...

Now I just need to work out the wing and electronics.

Lookin' good.
You could probably make a wing mount that integrates into the Transmission brace.

I hadn't considered using the brace. I was going to do the standard wing tube setup, I just hadn't put tubes in yet.
It looks like a wing will need to use standard length wire to maintain a little clearance to the rear wheels. This loaner wing has the RC10CC wire.

Wing is done. It needed a painted wing. Clear was just too invisible.

A little more sticker-a-facation. It needed tuning for a few more mph top end speed.

Very cool build. The front shock window and the billboards cut to fit the side vents are neat touches.
...then of course there's the awesome suspension.

Never done.
The nylon front rack is super durable, but too flexible. A new fiberglass rack from Factory Works fixed that problem.

While I had the front shocks out, they got changed from gold to silver springs. The front suspension is now much more reactive.

Am I the only one thinking how cool it'd look with white ball cups and steering blocks?
